Disappointed

For the past two years I have looked forward to staying at the JW Marriott Changfeng. On previous visits the hotel felt like home away from home, but this last visit was disappointing. My understanding is that hotels in the Marriott family do not allow smoking, even in China. I loved that I could count on this hotel to be smoke-free, unlike most hotels in China. Our room was inundated with cigarette smoke for most of the night. It was as if someone was smoking in our room. I assume the smoke was coming in through the HVAC. It made both me and my fiancé sick. We had specifically requested a non-smoking room to be sure, but not non-smoking neighbors. The staff is wonderful, however. That hasn'the changed.

Great, exceptionally well trained staff

Pros: Everything was in the right place at the right time.
Cons: Everything was good I have nothing to complain. Absolutely nothing
Location: 5 minutes walking from the Convertion Center, 20 minutes by taxi to the Longhua Tempe, 20 minutes by taxi from the Bund.

Location is good as beside has a mall and convinience access for food Lobby is kind of tight Room size is ok

Good deal for the price

Room size is great. Good deal with breakfast included. But quality of service does not meet JW Marriott standard, so is quality of breakfast buffet.

Keep same Marriott spirit, as same as in USA. We like it, but the location has no MRT nearby. The breakfast is over pricing. Room is clean and cozy.

Below my expectations

Pros: Nothing in particular
Cons: Too many to mention and not sure it warrants my time and effort.
Location: There is a mall nearby, but don't get your hopes up.
I booked a room for three and expected either a sofa bed or a roll in bed for my grand daughter. Imagine my surprise when they told me that if we opt for a king size bed then that's it. Or, I can opt for two beds, but very small - only 1.5 m wide. What a disappointment. We are used to a super king at home. Service at breakfast was patchy and it was pathetic when we saw one staff topping up large empty yogurt bowls by emptying small tubs one by one into the larger ones.
