Best Marriott Experience

I could not have asked for a better experience staying at Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel! It's as city-central as you can get, being minutes away from the Yu Garden and right across the street from the Yu Garden subway stop; there's a great (Eastern and Western) breakfast assortment everyday (yes, they have XLB's amongst other yummy things); the rooms are super clean and updated... and the SERVICE!
On our first night, we encountered a misunderstanding with our breakfast situation caused by Expedia and Steve, the Director of Rooms personally responded within 24 hours and corrected another company's error just to ensure that the rest of the stay would be pleasant for us. The Club Lounge was definitely the highlight of the stay (17th floor parnoramic view, daily afternoon tea, nightly happy hour & dessert)! The awesome staff there is especially accommodating and literally will try to help you with every request like planning your personalized Shanghai shopping itinerary or helping you buy a "meituan" (Chinese version of Groupon) because you don't have a Chinese bank account.
Most importantly, my hard-to-please "old Shanghainese" parents were beyond satisfied with their 2-week stay there. And that makes me, a loyal Starwood girl, extremely happy about the Mariott merger!
