Great girl's trip!!!
Definitely a 5 star hotel with all the amenities. Really nice hotel and clean even though it is a little dated. Super great price. Stayed here for 3 nights with a friend while we were in Shanghai. Room was huge for the two of us and much better than what we had expected. Huge living room and king sized bed with a view of the Huangpu River and Pudong skyline with the Pearl Tower. There was complimentary water and toiletries everyday . Weather was rainey and foggy while we were there. The hotel also had two complimentary umbrellas in the closet for us to use while we were there. Location was close and near to the major attractions. Super close walk to transportation and the main roads. The bellman helped us get a taxi to the airport in the lobby. Good thing he did because I left my bag in the taxi when I got out and didn't get receipt. Luckily I called the hotel and the bellman knew which taxi company it was and was able to call the guy and have him come back to the airport with the bag intact. All in all, stay was great. 5 stars!!!

I was surprised at just how much I was able to get out of my nightly rate. It was practically a 3-room suite for the price of a cheap room on the Strip in Vegas.

Business Trip
Checking in to the hotel was a breeze. It cost about $180 (approx USD29.00) to get from Pudong International Airport to the hotel. Location was fine. It's about a 15mins walk to WaiTan and about 25mins walk to the main shopping area around Xin Tian Di. If you can read Chinese, download their own Goggle Map called BaiDuDiTu and walking around is a breeze (with the exception of the hot weather now, of course). As most of my meetings are within the vicinity, there is no need for me to take their subway. I would prefer walking compared to squeezing in the subway. Room deco is old, but room is big. Maybe I choose a bigger room. There is a separate area for working desk and bed, with a sliding door. Hotel staff were fine. I usually didn't bother with the housekeeping to make up the room, and the housekeeping staff on the 10th floor (where I stayed) came over looking pretty concerned that I keep having the Do not Disturb switch on. I got to assure her that its ok and I don't require anything else except some FOC coffee and bottled drinks. Overall happy with my selection.

Good location but poor bell service
The stay was nice in terms of value for money. The only reservation was the bell service when I checked out. The bell manager was kind enough to find a taxi for me. However he did not assist me in carrying 2 luggage bags downstairs to the taxi. For a so-called 5-star hotel, such negligence is unforgivable.

My friend and I were glad to find this hotel. The location was excellent and the hotel room had separate living room and bedroom, bigger than we thought. Though breakfast was not included, but there were many restaurant and food stores nearby.

Good Hotel close to the Bund
We booked for 2 nights which included breakfast, the room was huge, king size bed in one area, sitting room in the middle and a bathroom which included a spa bath and power shower. View of the Bund and Pudong from the window. Great hotel, reasonable priced in a really good location.

Good location, so so quality
We stayed in this hotel for 10 days during our Shanghai trip due to its convenient location in downtown. First room assigned was a disappointment, broken toilet and bad AC unit, requested a room change. The hotel itself can not be qualified as a four star hotel, maybe a three star. The last day, we forget our perfume in the bathroom when we checked out. Two days later, when we called the hotel housekeep, they told us no perfume was found in the room when housekeeper did the clean up, which was quite unbelievable as it was left in the bathroom over the sink, so remember to pack everything when you leave and do not expect to find the things you left behind.

Nice central location. Midway between Nanjing Road and YuYuan Garden, midway between Bund and Peoples Square. Not very close to any particular Metro Station. Hotel is a little old, but decently maintained. Staff helpfulness varies with individual, but mostly good. Room is suite-like long and narrow. Fantastic big picture window view of the Bund. Breakfast is only so so. Even the Chinese food items are marginal. If we wanted to stay in the same neighborood, would use it again.

Great location, not so good hotel
We read online that the hotel was 5*, and when we first arrived and were greeted with a scruffy bell porter with ink stains on his uniform, it didn't a great first impression. For the 4 days we were the staff were consistently rude and unhelpful, more bothered about their iphone games rather than their front desk customer service skills! Another big draw back was the limited wifi to just the lobby, this was a pain when we were trying to plan out days ahead. The "western" breakfast was also limited to croissants and toast, and when we arrived one morning with 30 minutes spare , the staff refused to replenish them..we ended up giving the rice, noodles, corn on the cob or sweet potato a miss and went to the MCd's down the road. The gym was also a joke, the treadmill or cross trainer didn't work and it was in a converted bedroom complete with old bed and office furniture piled up! The roof top bar could be amazing, like both hyatt bars in the city, but it wasn't, defiantly not worth the lift ride! On a better note , the location and price were great!

Proximity to The Bund was good.View from 17th floor (rm1724) was excellent; we could see ships on the river.and the lights from television tower as the whole area lit up at night. Only tried chinese restaurant and food was good, but so was almost all food in small nearby restaurants. The one thing that spoilt our trip was the lack of knowledge of the concierge; we asked previously about the Shanghai airport (sha) and showed him our flight details to verify. Despite this, he told taxi to take us to Pudong Airport (pud). We were stranded at the wrong airport with probably not enough time to reach the correct one and very little Yuan left; taxis seem to only take cash,. For its position and comfort I could recommend this hotel, but stay on level 17 or above and ask for a view towards the Bund - Just do not trust concierge , or arrange transfers through travel agent.

Good price for hotel near the bund
This hotel is just like other Chinese local hotel. Even it's a 4 star hotel, the service and room condition is only ok. The room is in a good size, however, if you look into detail, there are so many things need to be improved. A lot of things are falling apart and I am not surprised as it's typical Chinese quality. Like the shower, the handle of the drawer and etc. In addition, the front desk staffs are bad mannered. Overall, considering the price and location. I think it's a good value.

Nice hotel
Our room was a suite and we liked it a lot. It wasn't overly large, but the living area was comfy and we spent several late nights hanging out there watching the news. The hotel is basically devoid of amenities. It has a meager supply of exercise equipment that they call a gym. More importantly, the location was pretty good. Walk 10 minutes due east and you get to the Bund and a great view of the Pearl Tower. Walk 10 minutes due north and you get to Nanjing shopping street (and the Metro- lines 2 and 10). Another 10 minutes due south and you are at the metro, line 8 and the Old Town (Yuyuan Garden).

A Satisfying and Convenient Stay.
My mother and I stayed in Shanghai for three weeks, and happily spent all three of them at the Business Suite (Twin Room) Salvo Hotel. The staff were cordial (if not overly friendly- this is the Chinese way) and premises were clean and conventional, with the most comfortable single bed/pillow that I've ever had. Needless to say, thanks to the fact that we were on the 22nd floor (and kept the windows shut- the airconditioner is effective, you won't need to open them) we were well-rested each night. The room itself was functional; it had all necessary stationery tools and was kept very clean by the friendly staff lady. My mother speaks Chinese, so she actually had a good conversation with her - the cleaner mentioned that next year the hotel is going to refurbish some of its rooms, so the dim lighting in the living room area will probably be adjusted and the old-looking floor renewed. Food-wise, you won't need to dine at the hotel unless it's truly a shocking day rain-wise, which happened on three occasions when we were there in July. Firstly, I must say that breakfast is truly not worth its' price: most of the food is Chinese (even though it was advertised as being part western) and the quality isn't consistent. However, lunch and especially dinner were at an acceptable price and if you don't want to explore the amazing food at a ten-minute walk at the Yuyuan Gardens, Nanjing Road or the Bund, it is fine. I would definitely return and highly recommend it.

The staff was not too nice or willing to help. The bathroom in my room was not clean (spots on the toilet), when I asked to switch rooms the staff at the reception agreed immediately but was not too nice about it. In the new room I got the bathroom was not clean as well, and because it was late and I was exhuasted I just cleaned it myself. The internet connection was also terrible, but I heard that it's a common problem. Other than that everything was fine.

We stayed at the Salvo hotel for two weeks and find the location is excellent for business and pleasure. We can walk to the bund area along the waterfront. Excellent shopping location for East Nanjing Road. There is a Metro station within 10 mins walk from the hotel. The metro is easy to use and the best way to get around Shanghai. The value of the Salvo is the best we have found in Shanghai. Wifi is slow but we could still do our business and download our art files etc. Overall excellent value.

I loved the Salvo Hotel. It's very close to the Bund, Nanjing Road and subway station. I had a spacious room on the 10th floor that was clean & comfortable. The separate bathtub was indeed a luxury for me after living in a Chinese dorm with only a shower. Room service was quick. My first morning I ordered the continental breakfast and it was wonderful-- pot of brewed coffee with warm milk, toast, and a variety of fruit. I don't know what happened the 2nd morning as I ordered the same exact thing and the result was sub-par compared to the day before and not worth the 68¥, which precluded me from ordering anything on the 3rd morning. So I might advise to skip the continental breakfast as you never know what you're going to get. The toiletries in China are different priority than American toiletries-- there are unlimited combs and toothbrushes/ toothpaste, but not much lotion, soap, and conditioner. The staff was very helpful to accommodate my needs and communicating in English wasn't too bad. Definitely will stay there again on my next trip to Shanghai!

The hotel is 4 blocks away from the Nanjing East Road Subway Station, making it easy access to other section of Shanghai. It is also easy to go to nearby attractions on foot. My room was spacious while the setup of the bath rood was strange. Most of room was occupied by a Jacuzzi which I did not enjoy at all. There was not enough room for me to take a shower comfortably. Great location on the Bund - lots of things (Bund, the metro, little shops, Yuyuan Garden, Nanjing Road, etc.) within walking distance. We stayed in a business king room and it was quite large - had a living room separate from the bedroom. The shower drain however was clogged and would flood pretty much immediately after turning on the water. Room didn't exactly feel clean, either. We stayed at 3 other hotels around Shanghai and the Salvo had the worst food. The lady at the 31st floor executive check-in didn't really speak English (compared to the other front-desk staff at the other hotels) and was kind of rude. Handed us meal tickets short a day and didn't apologize when we realized and came in a day later for them. In short, great location but facilities leave much to be desired.
