Two day weekend staycation getaway with 4 year old

We live in the center of Shanghai and I wanted to get away. The Sofitel is located within Shanghai municipality but outside the city. Clear blue skies greeted us. Lots of kid related activities from a kids pool and even the larger pool is only about 3 1/2 feet deep at its most and is made out to be like a large lagoon including beach front. Large kids water slide is at one end. Options to rent small kids row boats or inflatable rafts or other inflatables. There are also two kids play rooms, one with a soft play structure with slides and ball pit; the other with a few arcade type games. There was make your own ice cream bars in the lobby for 50 RMB. Over a week later and my daughter is still talking about the hotel; she wants to go live there.

The stay was great. We had two days at Sofitel and enjoyed every minute. The staff was extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us. The facilities in the hotel are very nice and the atmosphere is very relaxing.

Not a good experience

Very bad stay. Terrible smoke smell in the whole non smoking floor, 40mn for check in, and really bad food. will not return...

Terrible experience

The stay was a disaster. It took us 40mn to check in, the rooms had a terrible smoke smell even in the non-smoking floor, front office never pick up the phone and the food was disgusting and very expensive. Eventually we shorten the trip. Will never go again.

Good Choice

The Hotel was nice, but not very well maintained, the lobby was luxury, breakfast was good. The hall way was confused, and not very easy to find our room.

club lounge special treatment on my bday

Lydia in club lounge management went out of her waY to make sure our celebratory birthday starvation was very memorable. Staff were all terrific and made it a birthday to remember. We have gone back for this annual weekend family retreat 3 years in a row now and the staff always does a great job. Hotel facilities are showing some wear and tear. Our room was moderately clean (carpets were quite dirty, some trash left between bed and nightstand).

Relaxing short stay

Staff is really friendly. I was very lucky to be upgraded to one of the suites. It was a nice one night stay. The hotel has lots of ammenities, including sizable function rooms, which is perfect for business events. Also, it has a very decent swimming pool, and other facilities which make it a nice resort for families with kids to spend their short breaks. I originally thought that, the hotel is very inconvenient as it is distanted from the city center, but it was actually only a short 30-40 minutes drive. This 5 star hotel makes it a pretty good getaway for the weekends.
