Good location horrible hospitality
No effort from front desk to help or speak English. Waited about 20 minutes for them to acknowledge my presence. I understand if they were busy but they were standing speaking amongst themselves. Extremely poor English and not friendly. Not a great first impression on Shanghai. Would never stay again.

Poor reception. Very slow. Need 2 person to check out 1 guest. During check-in, the receptionists were talking bad about my group in Chinese language thinking that we do not understand the language. They got a shock when I start to speak in Chinese.

GOOD SHANGHAI HOTEL IN CENTRAL BUND LOCATION
Was here for just under 24 hours and I had a good stay. LOCATION is solid. It's in The Bund (obviously, as you can tell by the name) and has some good restaurants nearby. Also a close walk to either Yu Gardens, or Nanjing Road, or Huangpu River and the iconic Shanghai skyline, etc. PREMISES are decent, what you'd expect of a 3/4-star hotel. Not the Waldorf Astoria by any means, but you get the sense you're in a nice place. They've got a good little lobby bar, as well as a restaurant. PRICE was reasonable. Again, what you'd expect of a 3/4-star hotel. I was satisfied. ROOMS are good. A little old fashioned but they are clean, have a TV, good lighting and what have you. Just wish the water in the shower was warmer. I'm not a complainer, but it was frigid, period. STAFF was okay. Maybe it was a language barrier, but I received something of a cold vibe upon check-in and check-out. Nothing that soured my stay, however. Or that affects my rating. Just an observation. Overall, if I find myself back in Shanghai and in the same price range, I would come back.

It was nice two days in Shanghai, The Bund Hotel is close to many thing which I like to see, great location, Nice , comfortable bed, The only thing I don’t like is the greasy food smell on the floors which have restaurants (1-4th floors), Overall it’s great for few days stay.

Leaving this feedback to help others. Will try to be as objective as I can, as many of the reviews leave you confused over what to do. 1. Got to hotel and had to ask for help with luggage, no one was outside 2. Hardly anyone spoke English, even to some extent-they would just look at you and smile and not follow-up on a question 3. Room was horrible-carpets smelled from mildew, bed was unexpectedly hard with a cushion 1 in thick! 4. Plumbing was horrible-sink, toilet, and shower all clogged up - no joke! Maintenance had to come and fix it 5. No mini-bar provided. When we got in, our refrigerator was broken and they had to come and replace it. 6. National Geographic was the only English channel, so was excited about that, as other hotels do not offer any English channels), but TV only worked for 1 night. 7. Breakfast options were sub-par, no one spoke a bit of English, complained to the maitre d' and the following day he said that his staff would be undergoing English training. Surprisingly, in a country known for their excellent tea, this hotel serves Lipton tea and unabashedly leaves the tea bag in the carafe; some of the things on the table (syrup container, etc were crusty/dirty-needs to be cleaned 8. To top it all off, we made a couple of local calls for tours and were charged $0.25 (USD) per call 9. The safe was not locked down to anything, so it could easily be removed from the room-I decided to carry my valuable items w/ me. Locks were hard to work

Carpet in room had an inch of dust around the edge. The staff were predominantly rude and unhelpful but I think this is more a sign of the people generally rather than this specific hotel

The Hotel is very old and located in strange area. The staff didn't know any of the locations I wanted to go, so I couldn't get there help with the addresses, translate them to the local language, or to get any recommendations about tourist places.

Nice location and close to almost everything.
Over all is ok, but concierges are disappointed, first I asked a car service to People square, one concierge told me that it was close you could walk, I had to find a Taxi just outside of the hotel ; the second I asked car service to the airport, the concierge called the taxi that was so old and dirty, the taxi made noises during driving, felt so unsafe.

The location was ok, its a pretty decent walk to any of the subway entrances and the bund itself. I would have rather spent an extra $10 or $20 a night at a nicer hotel. Overall it wasn't that bad, just not worth the rate they are charging. Also the restaurants were way to expensive for the sub-par quality of food they were serving. The bar downstairs has a happy hour with 2 for 1 drinks everyday from 17:00 to 20:00 which was the only upside.

It's in downtown Shanghai, so the location is just fine. The room is relatively small, but it's clean and dandy. I guess overall it's a good hotel to stay in.

This hotel is fine in terms of room quality, but the surrounding area is so-so, tons of "massage parlors" and related businesses hawking for business at night. The gym is okay but not great (at least they have a gym). The breakfast similarly is okay but not great. Depending on price, I might be back, but I won't seek it out on future trips.

Central location but still quiet.
From our window we were able to see some of the Bund and the lights that come on. It was wonderful! The staff is very kind and always accommodating. I was working on Fuzhou road and the location of this stay was perfect. It is near all of the main streets without being crowded.

Very good hotel: staff helpful, rooms comfortable, location close to key tourist areas. Things to watch out: they did not reserve enough funds on my credit card when I checked in, and locked me out on my last day, and so I had to come down to the reception and increase the reserve. Also, the spa can use a face lift: looked a little dated.

Hotel is good but could do with more improvements!
The hotel was generally alright; clean and good facilities. I booked the superior queen but was bumped up to an executive-queen room.The room that was given to me was spacious and seemed sufficient for 2 ladies. So I do not know what the superior queen was meant to be like. Probably smaller and tighter in space. The hotel staff could speak minimal English. Some staff spoke better while there were some who were just very difficult to understand. When you ask the staff to get you a cab to your destination and if they ever tell you that if you walk down straight ahead, you will be able to get one, please INSIST that they book you a cab via an app called "didi" which works like uber. My friend and I were made to walk further down the hotel and waited for a good 30mins with no cabs wanting to stop or ferry us. We then decided to go back to the hotel to try and ask the staff to get us a cab . And that was when he decided to use the iPad to book us one (after a good telling off session by me).

For location, it is very convenient within walking distance to the places I want to visit. For hotel staffs, I suggest the porters or concierge staffs should do more than just standing there greeting guests. They can stretch their service by helping guests who alight from a Taxi at the road side to carry any luggage because your hotel is located at the traffic junction whereby the driver cannot park there.

So! I get to the hotel and I was told I was upgraded to the business suite! AWESOME!! The view! EVERYTHING!!! The location was awesome!! There is an Italian restaurant right in front of hotel... DELICIOUS!!! Would recommend hotel 100%!!! Very close to the BUND!!! LOVED IT!

The hotel was nice,little bit dated,but still nice.Unfortunately the service was pretty bad,as a 4stars hotel it would be supposed to have a professional personal and willing to help,they didn't give us any help,pretty rude people,never said thanks,please or good morning ,the basic of the humans behave,plus,the most important thing,No one speaks English ,so definitely for the price I wouldn't suggest this hotel,it s nice but not worth to pay for a pretty bad service!I been working in 4/5 stars hotels and this one is not a 4 stars hotel service.

Great hotel! We only had two days stopover in Shanghai, this hotel suited us perfectly. Staff were great, we did not eat there so cannot comment. Rooms comfortable and spacious and a short walk to Nanjing Rd and Bund.

Nice hotel for one night
This hotel is close to the metro and the Bund. Transportation, good food, and shopping are withing walking distance. The decor is a bit dated. There were some stains on the carpet and on the decor linens, but I find that is not uncommon at 4 star hotels in China.

Close to Nanjing Rd.
Hotel is very clean,about 4 blocks to Shopping district,restaurants.There is an Italian bakery/restaurant across hotel which was very convenient.Chinese restaurants close by but not a lot of people speak English.Other than that it is a pretty safe area to be in.Would recommend this hotel.

Only complaint was that the beds are too hard. I stayed there on 2 occasions and both rooms had beds that were too hard. Very nice economical hotel though. I would stay there again
