Really wanted to like this placePosted Nov 21, 2015
Cons: Neither employee I encountered seemed particularly happy to be working at this hotel. This is a management issue for the owners to consider.
Location: Great restaurants downtown and in the harbor area are within easy walking distance. The superb John Michael Kohler Art Center is a few blocks away.
I visit Sheboygan at least twice a year. I've stayed at several different hotels of different types on previous visits over the last decade. The location of this hotel is ideal and I had always wanted to give it a try. I arrived at the hotel after over three hundred miles of solo driving, exhausted, in desperate need of a restroom, and looking forward to a delicious meal at my favorite restaurant. The front desk attendant was surly to the point that I wondered if I'd accidentally wandered into the DMV or perhaps a security checkpoint at an airport. Regarding security, when I arrived at my room it was obvious that one of the windows was not closed completely. The room was freezing. The weather that day included 35mph winds with gusts much higher and temps in the low 40s. When I tried to close the window completely and lock it, I found that the locks were broken. Since my room was located on the first floor flush with the ground outside the hotel, this made me feel very unsafe. The room was comfortable and clean. However, the lighting in the bathroom was inadequate, which was curious since the room was a specially-equipped handicapped room. The room was located about five feet from the area where the complementary breakfast (which was great!) was served. Luckily I had to be up very early to start another long drive because this room was incredibly noisy. Checkout was also problematic. I had to wait over ten minutes for an employee to appear to process my checkout

nice hotel with river walk next to the hotel.Posted Nov 18, 2015
Pros: Nice location & breakfast room with a view of the river. The river walk just outside the hotel was very nice.
Cons: There could be more sound proofing as we could hear wake-up calls, toilet flushing & showering & talking in next rooms.
Location: The river walk, small shops to browse. Close to downtown with restaurants & theatre.
Had a nice breakfast in the breakfast room watching walkers on the river walk trail.

Affordable hotel on the water.Posted Sep 29, 2015
Pros: Hotel was easy walking distance to the meeting I attended.
Cons: Bathroom could have been cleaned better.
Location: Unfortunately, there really doesn't seem to be much to see or do in Sheboygan. It's an easy 2 hour drive to Door County and Kohler isn't far away.
Good value for the money, especially when compared to the price of staying at Blue Harbor Resort. Breakfast was adequate and room was quiet. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Very nice, charming , quaint . In Sheboygan wanted something other than the usual and this fit our idea of what we were looking for. Staff could've been a bit more enthusiastic ; they were peasant .

Nice hotel on the harborPosted Sep 17, 2015
We are four sisters in our 60s from California. We came to Sheboygan to visit our elderly aunts. We arrived at the Harbor Winds about midnight very tired. The expressions on our faces were priceless when we were told that our room was on the second floor with no elevator. They said we could move the next day. I wish that I had a video of us dragging our 50lb suitcases up the stairs. Our room with 2double(?) beds was so tiny. After getting those bags up there, rearranging our room, unpacking and hanging up our clothes (1 1/3 hangers each, we never laughed so much. MOVE? In the morning after a comfortable nights sleep, we ate our continental breakfast with a view of the harbor, took a walk along the harbor and did some shopping. We knew we made the right choice for our 5 day stay.

Dirty sheetsPosted Sep 11, 2015
We had dirty and sandy sheets in one of the beds, then at checkout they charged us 4 times, took a full week to fix that with the bank...

on the river, short walk to Lake MichiganPosted Aug 26, 2015 on Hotels
A small hotel, nice location on the river. Cutest little breakfast area facing the river. Great breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff. Room was basically good: only negatives was the towel bar next to the sink was barely hanging on by the two screws, and the down comforter had been inappropriately laundered leaving bunches of feather clumps and lots of just fabric layers for coverage. The front desk person quickly brought me additional blankets at my request, and those were perfect. Quiet for my one night stay, though there was traffic noise at the adjoining corner, maybe related to the liquor store across the street. Nice boardwalk along the river, which goes to Lake Michigan in a short walk. Lovely walk one morning: I tried the prior evening, but was intimidated by what I think is the local element, and I didn't feel safe walking alone. But the next morning, lots of joggers and walkers, and I felt comfortable. My first time to Sheboygan, an overnight stay on my way to Door County. Cute little town, lovely beach at a downtown park. Not sure I'd stay at this hotel again - not sure it was worth the charge for the one night I was there. Maybe more reasonable if priced slightly lower.

Service was great, location is excellent & near restaurants. Hotel is older though and could hear a few things. The walk way through the Mariana to the lake is very nice.

Good LocationPosted Aug 21, 2015
Cons: Pretty pricey for what is available.
Location: Right on the boardwalk so close to activities and shops.
Old and dated, very cramped rooms with only double beds. Good location on the boardwalk. Staff was friendly and helpful. TV did not work.
