Pros: The hotel building + grounds.
Cons: The chef should be able to prepare a good steak (there was only the two of us dining at the time) and the waiter should ask if the meak is ok.
The house/grounds are very good. Excellent start for our room to be upgraded. The only criticism of the room was the shower which was too small resulting in being unable to escape the flow of water and the danger of being scolded should the water suddenly become hot. However, the room was excellent. The stay was spoilt by the evening dinner. We had fillet steak, but the meal was cold. The surcharge of £10 per steak was ridiculous, particularly given its poor standard. The receptionist was very helpful and asked if we had enjoyed our meal and was aplogetic on hearing that we had not. She said she would pass a message to the manager who had left the house for the evening to return home. We heard nothing the next day.

Simply wonderfulPosted Aug 28, 2015
Kind and gracious staff for whom no request was to much. The house itself was full of character and charm with a peaceful atmosphere. My partner and i stayed for two nights just as a get away from the daily rush. On arrival we we're told we had been upgraded to a deluxe room with no extra charge and it just got better from there. The spa was heaven but due to its popularity could be quite busy at times with just a little difficulty booking treatments again this was due to it being so popular. The hotel was clean and tidy with such charm. We will definitely be returning here and spreading the word.

fantastic 2 nightsPosted Aug 28, 2015
just got back from charlton house . loved every minute . started off in Duncans den . what a room . sunken bath big enough for a football team! then went onto a deluxe room with a private terrace that leads straight to the spa . bed was so comfy didn't want to get up . spa is very good too. I have to comment on the food as it was superb .. the lamb was delicious . on top of that the staff couldn't do enough for you . I will Def be going back .

Beautiful Hotel with Amazing SpaPosted Aug 7, 2015
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel this week. Rooms were amazing and the staff were all very cheery. Only criticisium would be with the food. Meals were gorgeous and very well presented but the bar snacks were deceiving and too "fine dining". I wanted proper nachos not some grilled flat bread. Overall amazing place to stay.

lovely comfortable roomPosted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: our room was lovely the spa was really nice but I think it would feel very crowded and busy times
Cons: bigger spa area
Location: Lovely location not far away from Glastonbury or Wells
we stayed here for two nights bed and breakfast we had only booked for one but we were really impressed with our room the bed was so comfy I didn't want to get out of it so we booked another night the first night we had a bar meal scampi and chips delicious the next night we went into the restaurant delicious meal the service was exceptional but the following morning the waiting staff looked very stressed because everyone seemed to go for breakfast at the same time they didn't come across as organised at all.

Would stay again but have some suggestionsPosted Jun 22, 2015 on Hotels
Everything was lovely, the Spa was great, teh room was unique and comfortable and the grounds stunning. If i had any negatives/suggestions - i was a bit disappointed by the Lunch and Dinner menu in content and in price. Given that the hotel is set among a very rural back drop without any amenities locally, a bit more in regards to convenience meals, drinks, magazines etc would be helpful.

Nice treat, very good valuePosted Jun 10, 2015
We had a lovely quick break away, really good first impression with the front desk staff being really welcoming, upgrading us to a deluxe room and showing us round the hotel. We spent most of the time in the spa which was great as we hadn't booked a specific spa deal. I was able to use this the following day after I'd checked out of my room too. There were a couple of small things I noticed in the spa, the fresh towel box was empty both times we went to it so I had to find staff to get fresh towels (not always easy as it was only staffed by small number of people) and the ice fountain wasnt working. These were really very small niggles though so I'd happily go back or recommend to friends.

Beautiful hotelPosted May 31, 2015
Pros: Loved everything.
Cons: Lounge was a bit chilly. There was a wedding taking place the next day and the doors were open making the room chilly.
Loved our stay - good food, lovely relaxed ambience, staff very helpful.
