This was a REAL CASTLE, two of walls were from 1425..AMAZING. We were able to walk around and enjoy the beautiful grouds (there was even a tennis court on sight!) And lots of beautiful flowers and trees. The location is somewhat remote, and very quiet. But you can almost imagine it hundreds of years ago. That said, the guest rooms were of good size, very clean and modern. One of our favorite places we stayed in southern Ireland. I do not believe there was a lift/elevator, which did not matter...

The Step House hotel was one of our favorite stays on our Ireland trip! We had a beautiful and spacious room that opened onto a terrace overlooking the gardens and mountains in the distance. The Woodenbridge is an iconic inn located in the hills of Avoca, outside of Arklow. It is the oldest hotel in Ireland, and is a popular spot to stay, or spend the afternoon. The rooms are comfortable with modern conveniences. They have a hearty breakfast buffet, and the bar was a great place to get an afternoon drink to enjoy on their sunny patio.
