Just thought it was pretty. Sunny day in Ohio. Every small town in America has its own small treasures. For me this River is my spot, to clear my head and only focus on its wildlife and beauty. Charles going to take your advice. But might have some questions in the future, if you don't mind. These birds are all over the place but I found this one to be very playful, following me around. Sometimes, a little yellow flower jumps out and says These are are small birds we see every day, I have largely ignored them in my life. But these are the birds that give us the beautiful music we hear everyday. A small bird on a beautiful day in Ohio. On December 23 2016 the Eldean Covered Bridge was described as a National Historic Landmark. A 19th Century Long Truss Bridge. I am afraid I only know that it is along my beloved Great Miami River. A beautiful morning indeed. Built in 1860. Miami County commissioners hired Hamilton brothers to build this bridge. They were paid $1,337 to build the stone substructure and $2,632 to build the wood spans. The bridge is one of Ohio's oldest. The 127 year old Miami County Courthouse is the centerpiece of the landscape of Troy, OH.
The north sculpture represents industry. She is holding a wrench and stands next to a lathe. The strawberry festival encompasses the entire city of Troy. Even the fountain is roundabout in the city's center is filled with Strawberry Kool-Aid!
OK, that's not true, they just dye the water strawberry red.
Despite the gross amounts of health code violations that would incur, my idea is awesome in a Willy Wonka sort of way... The 127 year old Miami County Courthouse is the centerpiece of the landscape of Troy, OH.
The statue on the dome is the Goddess of Liberty. She is blindfolded to assure citizens that within the courthouse they will find justice. She holds scales that symbolize the laws of justice, a sword for protecting the arm of the law and a shield for the innocent. The 127 year old Miami County Courthouse is the centerpiece of the landscape of Troy, OH.
There was a nearly century-long battle between Troy and Piqua over which city should be the county seat for Miami County. The long-running feud between the cities is sometimes referred to as the “Courthouse War.” It is believed Troy was chosen because it is located in nearly the geographical center of Miami County. When driving along a country road in Ohio. Please remember to put the car in Park before getting out to take a picture. Your photo will come out better then this one. A cool old sign for the Improved Order of Red Men Tonquas Tribe No. 222 Thirty feet of Honest Abe and his close pal 'modern man' overlooking the Miami County Courthouse. This is the holy grail at the Troy Strawberry Festival, the famous strawberry donut!
They sell over 15,000 dozen strawberry donuts over the duration of the three day festival. That's pushing upwards of a quarter of a MILLION donuts!
We waited a hour and a half in line only to be told they were sold out... We were prepared to barter for donuts scraps, when a generous arts and crafts vendor shared with us from her secret reserve.
If you grew up eating JIffy brand blueberry muffins, these are the strawberry equivalent.
They're good. Don't tell the city of Troy I said this, but the pumpkin donuts from the Circleville Pumpkin Show are a runaway winner. Very cool building Love visiting my dad❤️Troy is small town USA. Great place to live and visit. Home😃 Quaint, quiet Chinese restaurant with excellent, personal service. The food was great and served with complimentary hot tea. I would go back time and time again!
