Lin Ratanak Angkor hotel was a good quality hotel with nice 'feel' to it. It is a medium size hotel, with tour groups from various countries, but, despite the fact that I was travelling alone, I didn't find it at all overwhelming.
Usually I had the pool to myself and was also able to take breakast by the pool away from the main busy breakfast buffet area in the dining room. The buffet breakfast had a wide variety of choices to suit the tastes of the many nationalities staying so unusual cambinations were possible.
Except for the pool-side New Year's Eve buffet, which was fine, I didn't eat in, in the evening, so can't comment .
The staff were very attentive and keen to please, although they failed to carry out the arranged airport pickup until I rang from the airport. [local sim cards are on sale at the airport and well worth it].
The hotel is a half hour walk from the 'old market' area in the town centre but there is a large working local market, not at all geared up for tourists, immediately outside the hotel.
There is a small tuk-tuk area immediately outside the hotel. I used the same tuk-tuk driver (Mr Heng tel:017-318-250) to visit the temples, Kompong Phluk (on the lake) and to return to the airport.
While a tuk-tuk for the day is not at all expensive ($15 for a short trip - $20 for a long trip), it is worth noting that if you are travelling alone and hire a boat to go to the lake from Kompong Phluk you have to pay for the whole boat ($40) rather than $20.
