It was old, but we had trouble getting in, no elevator ( which we knew), the room was unbelievably small, the beds were broken down (deflated), from people sitting on the sides. I had to use a blanket rolled up to support my back enough to sleep. Shower didn’t work—sprayed all over, etc.

Great location and service
Hotel is on the 4th floor (90 stairs up!) with no elevator, reception only open limited hours, room is small and poorly lit, walls and doors are paper-thin, and our shower screen fell apart. That said, the hotel is in a wonderful location just 2 minutes from the Campo and numerous restaurants and cafes, the rooms are clean, and Stefano was very patient with our poor Italian and was extremely helpful with local attractions, transport, and after-hours access. We enjoyed our stay and would probably return.

Well located hotel
Great location near Il Campo. The staff were very friendly and helpful in recommending places to see and eat. The room was a bit basic but still comfortable. Thanks!

Convenient location close to the centre of Siena. A daunting climb up four flights of stairs and rather inconvenient to have to check in before 5.30pm. Also no coffee facilities so going out for coffee in the morning was a pain because of the long climb back to the room. But a nice clean room with good shower and nice view.

Small, but clean. Good for a one night stay when you aren't wanting to spend much time in your room anyway!

Convenient, but with limitations.
Explicit directions are REQUIRED. After the initial 70+ steps to the 4th+ floor [no elevator], the check-in and staff are wonderful and friendly. Minor maintenance is required [a knob here, a latch there], but otherwise a comfortable and pleasant room for the stay. My room had a view of the Bell Tower at Piazza del Campo... but, with that comes the hourly reminder of the time [NO respite ... every hour, every day]. Even though the windows are not 'modernized', they kept out most of the neighborhood noise. However, since there's only a fan [no A/C], when windows are open you can hear the raucous [no disrespect] gaffaws and laughs and cheers of the neighbors. The hotel location is superb (even if on a smaller/side street, it's shielded from all the shop noise).

A very convenient place. Good value.
The service was mostly very helpful but it was very unfortunate that no one was present at reception when we arrived. We were let in by other guests and only a phone call after 30 minutes enabled us to get our room key. Our room was ok. It was strange that the art in it was made up of only empty picture frames. Modern art perhaps?

very secure location
Need 3 keys to get to your room--- safer than most hotels! Gentleman at the desk knows English well, very friendly and helpful, let us leave our luggage in the room early so we could explore. Free tea in lobby. Small quiet hotel with small number of rooms on the top floor above residences. If you don't like exercise, you won't like going up stairs. Interesting towels-- more like linen. Awesomely close to Il Campo for a great price!

Decent hotel near Siena's Compo
Small hotel with rooms on 4th floor walk-up in heart of old Siena. Hard bed, small clean bathroom, no A/C. Staff was very friendly, and helpful. No breakfast service.

Great location
We received a larger room than we booked which was fine but the layout was a bit odd. The facility was fine but the bathroom smelled quite bad (I think it was the pipes from the plumbing fixtures such as the budet that was out of service- probably didn't have water run through the pipes). The service was great- very friendly. It was in an excellent location right near Campo. We would recommend it as a nice less expensive option.

Fab, central hotel
A fantastic, small hotel in the centre; really is a great location and although there are flights of stairs to the top and the hotel reception is closed after 8pm, the hotel receptionist (Giorgio) was so friendly and went out if his way to help - he even booked me a table at his recommended restaurant (which was delicious (Osteria Ceci)) and he even helped by giving me ideas and logistics for my onward journey. Can't recommend this hotel enough - and the location can't be beaten; really lives up to its name.

Good location, but not very clean
Hotel was in a great location and the owner very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately it was let down by: a foul smell in the room, presumably coming from the bathroom drains; the cleanliness of the room and bathroom (lots of hairs in the bathroom and shower cubicle and stains on the bedspread); the loud reception area (but this might have been due to the fact our room door was right off the reception area); no tea or coffee making facilities; and the lack of a lift for our heavy cases (there was a pulley lift at the top but we weren't offered use of it). Such a shame as the hotel is in a good location, the reception area decorated nicely and the owner was lovely

Good budget hotel
Forget about the other reviews . Staff was very friendly and accomadating. You have to realize its a 2 star Italian hotel that means not a lot of services and a front desk that will close. Pay attention when you reserve something. It says no elevator and at that price what are you expecting. It was a good clean room. If you are looking to save money and just get a nights sleep this place is fine. Staff was extremely friendly

This hotel is located in a great spot, close to everything, walking distance to all the attractions which is what drew me here. so for that it's great. Other than that its a very loud hotel, you can hear every door open and close, every bathroom flush from the next room over. More annoying is the trash dump that happens at 6 am every morning, who knew a restaurant could have that much glass int the trash.. every day. The room was warm, but opening the window just begs the loud bar scene to sound like its inside your room until well after 2 am.. so needless to say, we didn't sleep much. If you are coming in at 2am and leaving the hotel before 7 , it may be worth the gamble

Centrale by name central by nature
Great location, great price. This isn't really a 'Hotel' it's a converted apartment, breakfast is questionable and it's at the top of a mountain of stairs! So why was I so impressed? This little guest house is really unpretentious and we got it for what I consider to be a great price. They made clear on their advert about the stairs so there were no bad surprises only good ones! The manager was helpful and cheerful and we were lucky enough to get an unexpected balcony on the room. Location is A1 right next to the Campo - don't make the mistake of staying next to the 'city centre', it's miles away, the old town is where you want to be and the Campo is right in the centre. Another thing worth noting is that the shower pressure is reasonable which in these old parts of the city is by no mean guaranteed!

Nice quiet small hotel
Stayed 4 nights here and had a pleasant stay. Staff were friendly & helpful, room was quiet and large. Please note there are 70 steps to climb to get to the hotel which is located on top floor - no elevator. Hotel is in an excellent location and breakfast was fine - basic Italian brekky. Also there's a fantastic restaurant just up the street.

Great Location
We stayed one night and the location could not have been better. The staff was extremely polite and helpful and served a wonderful simple breakfast. Going up the four flights of stairs was not that difficult and a baggage lift is available if you need it.

Not what I had hoped
The Centrale hotel itself is a perfectly adequate little hotel but 2 star it is. Where it goes badly wrong is that no-one mentions the 64 stairs from the front door of the building to the front door of the hotel which is a nightmare!!! Had I known we had this horrendous climb in heels and frocks and carrying bags etc I would not have booked this hotel. The actual room was comfortable enough but very basic and the bathroom was not good. Somewhat old and not very clean shower. Very old fashioned and noisy flushing cistern and water pressure sadly lacking. The telephone did not work and the lights flickered on and off I was disappointed to be honest.

Albergo Cetrale Siena
Cleanliness, friendly and helpful owners and location to the centro are the best selling points of this hotel. Hotel is on the 5th floor (4th by European standards) of an old building so no lift. Be aware if you have large heavy luggage's or children, or physically challenge then this hotel is not suitable for you. Also be aware that there is no AC either, just ceiling fans and wide open windows. I don't know about other rooms, but my room 35 is good, I can see the Tower from my windows, cool at night.

Great location but you could do better
Hotel is in a fantastic location but there are four flights of stairs with no elevator; towels were very thin, non-absorbent pieces of material, resembling pieces of table cloth more than towels; the very basic free breakfast was a bun and a croissant with your choice of coffee or espresso drink and the hot water ran out after a few minutes in the shower.

Location couldn't be better
It is on the 4th floor and there is no lift (Ricardo did carry our bags up for us which was much appreciated), the bed was somewhat hard and the shower very small. Having got the negatives out of the way I can thoroughly recommend the hotel and its staff. The location is one small block from the focus of Siena - Piazza del Campo which is surrounded by good restaurants and so many things to see. The hosts couldn't have done more for us. We would happily stay there again.

We loved this hotel but only stayed for a night. Lots of stairs (50+ steps) so nor for the faint hearted but maybe Siena isn't either. Google maps was not accurate for this hotel so after q false start we asked for directions in a gelateria and it was easy to find. 3 mins walk to the bus station next day was very handy. Cute room, very central, would go back

Great location.
Very helpful staff. Will remember Laura at the desk. Provided maps . Room clean,meat with everything we needed including mini bar with a variety of drinks and a cork screw. Breakfast was very good.

Hotel bem localizado, porém muito antigo. No site não há a informação de que a recepção fica fechadas das 10:00 as 14:00, então se chegar esse horário, deverá aguardar do lado de fora. vale a pena se como eu ficar apenas um dia e também pela localização.

Eravamo a Siena per un weekend io e il mio ragazzo. Posizione dell'albergo comodissima per muoversi all'interno della città e visitare i maggiori luoghi turistici. Zona molto tranquilla dietro Piazza del Campo. Stanza accogliente e pulita, così com'era molto pulito anche il bagno. Confortevole e ideale per trascorrere un fine settimana. Personale molto cortese e disponibile.

Em casa em Siena
Não oferece serviços, o quarto não foi limpo nem as toalhas trocadas, o ponto positivo é a localização, ficamos bem no centro histórico de onde fizemos tudo a pé, nos sentimos em casa no quarto, que possui uma pequena sacada com mesa e cadeira, onde ficamos a noite e tomamos um bom vinho.

好感の持てるホテルです。
スタッフは明るくフレンドリーで親切です。 ホテルは4階にあります。 エレベーターはありません。 荷物がある方は、滑車のような物がありましたので、それで運んでもらえると思います。 ベランダ付きの部屋を希望したのですが、無かったらしく、代わりに塔が見える部屋にしてくれました。満足しています。 またシエナに来たら泊まりたいと思います。

Mucho ruido de lo que parece ser una caldera que nos impidió dormir. para llegar à las habitaciones hay que subir 4 pisos sin ascensor. El wifi no funcionaba en la habitación. eso si el personal es muy simpático y la ubicación es ideal.

アットホームなホテル
フロントの方は何でも対応してくれ、とても親切でした。きめ細やかなサービスをしてくれ、快適に過ごすことができました。カンポ広場に近く、なにをするにも便利な場所でした。気になる点として、一階の電気錠が壊れたこと、四階まで荷物を運ぶことで、それも含めて、自分の家のような気がして、わたしには心地よかった。
