Fantastic hotel in a lovely little town

Posted Apr 22, 2017
Pros: Nice rooms. Great views. Clean and comfortable
Cons: In room safes perhaps?
Location: Explore the towers, walls & cobbled alleys. Countryside hikes and winetasting. Try Tuscan cuisine - pici, boar etc. Have Dondoli's gelato. Come back!!
The hotel is a short walk from the car park / bus stop / taxi stop. The rooms are large and comfortable. We took one which was overlooking the countryside and the views in the morning were simply awesome. It is very quiet and peaceful. Though the building is quite old, it is comfortable inside. There is even a lift to make it easy to move the luggage. There is no safes in the room, so if need be, use the safe in the front desk. The breakfast can be had at the adjoining restaurant which has a great view as well. The staff is very helpful - they gave us a quick orientation about the highlights of this picturesque town. Later when we were leaving they helped to arrange the transport to the railway station. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and serves a number of Tuscan dishes - all of which are very well prepared. The town of San Gimignano is small but punches well above its weight in terms of experiences. The towers and the small cobbled alleys and piazzas bring you back to the middle ages. Do not forget to try out the fantastic creations from Dondoli Gelatos which is a 5 minute stroll away. There are plenty of options to go hiking in the country side and at night this town is a photographer's delight with its yellow lights and stone buildings.

Love this place in this small town...

We generally get a house in Florence and then spend three days as a side trip in San Gimignano. I truly enjoyed this hotel because of its PROXIMITY TO THE ENTRANCE RATHER THAN TO THE NETHER REACHES. The lady in the reception area was especially kind and most helpful...always a plus!

Great Hotel location in San Gimignano!

Posted Oct 21, 2016 on Hotels
Loved our stay here as this hotel is close to the main entry way into San Gimignano and is directly within the old walled city. It also has a great in-house restaurant with a terrific selection of traditional local Italian entrees and wines and it looks out over the beautiful countryside below. The dining room is used for breakfast in the morning.

Charming hotel with breathtaking countryside views (ask for that side). Convenient to all you need in San Gimignano.

Idyllic setting right in the middle of the town.

Fantastic views over the Tuscan countryside. Staff very friendly and accommodating.Attached to a great restaurant with good value menu and friendly staff. Safe and secure covered car park nearby. Couldn't wish for a better location to experience San Gimignano. We will be back again.

Helpful and friendly staff, convenient location

Our family of four had a great stay at the Bel Soggiorno. The dropoff from the taxi was very easy (it's right by the southern gate to the city, so a very quick walk even when the streets are mobbed with sightseers and the cars can't get into the city). It's close to the Museum of Torture which the kids also enjoyed. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The attached restaurant is good with a beautiful view - we had breakfast there and enjoyed it. The restaurant for lunch and dinner looked good as well, but it might be a little pricier than other options (but is probably worth it). Only one of the two rooms had a/c which was a bit of a problem at night during a hot spell. The rooms had small windows with gorgeous views of the Tuscan countryside. Recommended!

Great experience.

The hotel has an excellent location. It is located just inside the city walls. Because the hotel is on the city wall, there are spectacular views of the Tuscan countryside from your room if you reserve a countryside room. The hotel staff is very friendly and the wifi worked great.
