A five star beauty

Posted Nov 26, 2017
Pros: quite peacefulness all amenities it had, large rooms tastefully decorated.
Cons: not a thing, excellent
Location: Near the penguins at Simons town, a not to far drive to Cape of Good Hope, you might not want to leave this place.
We arrived at this hotel after a very traumatic experience of a smash and grab at a red light, we had about $15.000 of goods stolen including all of laptops and communication devices so I could keep in touch with home and bookings. When I was greeted with such a friendly smile in such a beautiful place I burst into tears. Our stay was so comfortable, the food was excellent and the entire place had such a sense of calm about it. I would recommend this place for sure to anyone wanting a nice comfortable place to stay.

Thank you for your kind feedback, Wendy. We are so sorry about your bad experience while driving from the airport. We don't normally get this kind of crime in Cape Town, so I am very sorry it happaned to you. I am glad that you were able to relax at Mariner Guesthouse and that you found our house peaceful. We hope to welcome you back again sometime.

Construction Site with no water

Posted Nov 10, 2017
Pros: Location
Our room was clean but the staff failed to inform us that the water would be switched off when we got up in the morning to get our flight home. There is a drought so they should have known. The hotel did not tell us in advance that they are building new rooms and there would be hammering from 08.00 to 17.00 each day. t

I am very sorry for your discomfort during our renovations and water crisis. We were very mindful of informing guests about this. Apart from telling guests when checking in, we published on our web site as well as putting up notices in the house. I apologise that we missed you in the process. The water outage was not planned. It was due to a problem which had to be fixed by our municipality. The 5ltr cans with backup water given to our guests was an emergency measure to ensure that guests had water for essential use. We have now installed water harvesting tanks as back-up in case this ever happened again. Finally, the building of our garden apartment is now almost complete, so no more noise. This was a difficult situation for us as we normally offer a very peaceful environment to our guests, but it was a short term project which will benefit many other guests. We are currently painting and then furnishing - in time to welcome our first guests at the beginning of December.

Thoroughly enjoyed stay

Posted Nov 8, 2017
Pros: It was modern, clean and tidy and we felt at home. It was a great location to visit the penguins and there were some lovely restaurants nearby.
Thoroughly enjoyed our recent 6 night stay. The room was a good size, breakfast was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. We look forward to returning.

We are very pleased that you thoroughly enjoyed your recent stay. We strive to offer our guests a personalized and friendly service. Mariner Guesthouse is within walking distance from the beaches and restaurants which gives guests the option to stroll down to town or drive. One of my favourite walks is the boardwalk between Sea Forth and Boulder's beaches, where one can see the penguins sitting on their nests or attending to their young. We will be adding a new summer special to our breakfast menu soon! We look forward to welcoming you back soon!

Good accommodation, nice panoramic view

Posted Oct 1, 2017
Pros: Facilities, service.
Cons: Included buffet breakfast offer/selection should better for an "Executive" room booking and hence 4 stars.
Location: Whale and African penguin watching. Bus tours to Cape Town, Table Mountain, Stellenbosch and vicinity.
We have stayed at Mariner Guesthouse for 5 days. We enjoyed magnificent panoramic views. Staff was very helpful and friendly, room was clean.

Cosy Guest House with awesome False Bay views.

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: The staff, the breakfast & the view.
Cons: Plug access.
Location: Great proximity to all of Cape Town. Boulders penguin colony on the door step!
Whilst the view was awesome, the friendly helpful staffreally made the stay memorable. Oh! And the breakfasts included in the tariff were just the best. Thanks for a wonderful week. The fire in the cosy lounge was such a pleasure to come back to on each of our chilly August Winter evenings.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that you found our location within good proximity of Cape Town and surrounds. We often find that guests choose to stay in this more peaceful area of the Cape Peninsula, rather than the city. It was lovely having you at Mariner Guesthouse! I appreciate your recommendation about the plug access and will look at improving this immediately. We hope to welcome you back again on your next visit to the Cape!

This guesthouse was amazing! The breakfast was delicious, the staff was amazing, and the view was remarkable. We stayed in room #2 and LOVED the view from the balcony. The location was very safe, quiet, and peaceful. The fireplace in the seating area by the breakfast room was charming and cozy. It was easy to walk to the many restaurants in Simon's Town and to visit the penguins. We wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else if we return to Simon's Town!

Lovely B&B

Posted May 29, 2017
Pros: Lovely house.
Location: Its got great views but is is a steep walk to get in and out of town.
We really enjoyed our one night stay here. Its a lovely house with great views. The staff are friendly and the breakfasts are great. Warning! it is located on the hill above Simons Town so it is a steep walk to get in and out of the town.

Thank you for your review, DJ. We are pleased that you enjoyed your one night stay at Mariner Guesthouse. We strive to offer a friendly, personalized service to our guests. Mariner Guesthouse offers breath-taking views across False Bay. In order to take advantage of the views, the guesthouse is situated well above the town and built into the mountainside, which means the walk is steep for the first part. We recommend access through our garden-gate to alleviate the steeper walk and steps down to the centre of town, where our visitors can take a leisurely walk to the shops, local beaches or to one of Simon’s Town’s excellent restaurants, all situated within a 1km radius of the guesthouse.
