Clean Hotel, Friendly Staff, Central Location

Posted Sep 3, 2017
Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. It has a gym, restaurant, and swim up bar. The water was clean.
Cons: I reported an issue with the light not coming on in the guest bathroom. However, I had to report it a second time before it was resolved.
Location: The hotel is in Simpson Bay's hotspot. There are a lot of restaurants, supermarkets, bars, clubs, cinemas, and other activities in the area.
The hotel is close to the airport, and is on the main road where all the restaurants, clubs, bars, shopping, supermarkets, pharmacies, cinemas, and other tourist attractions are. It is a clean hotel. The staff is friendly and pleasant. Everything was provided in the room, such as kitchen utensils and cook wares. Even dishwashing liquid and dish washing sponge were provided. We ate out the first and last evening of our three days stay. However, we made breakfast and cooked dinner the other days. We had a two bedroom apartment on the 4th floor. We had both ocean and pool view. Zac at the front desk made sure we were comfortable. The hotel is right on the water front, so most, if not all of the rooms, I assume will have a great view. There is a gift shop, liquor store, and a hair salon on the ground floor of the hotel. We stayed as a family of six. Two sisters, our husbands, and daughters. Overall, our stay was great.

Outstanding Hotel

Posted Sep 2, 2017 on Orbitz
Loved the place. Within walking distance of some great restaurants. Had a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment with balcony. Extremely nice. I'd live here!! Plenty of easy parking which is unusual in St. Maarten. Great staff. Was right on the channel that connects Simpson Bay to the boat harbor and where I was easily able to walk to fish for Tarpon. Photos are from my 5th floor apartment.

Beautiful well appointed waterfront apartment

Posted Aug 29, 2017
Great location, Comfortable large beds. Beautiful baby crib, not the standard travel cot. Well equipped kitchen, with all you need. Very clean and loads of towels. Friendly staff. I have always wanted to stay here and was not disappointed. The negative part was the number of mosquitoes, more fogging or spraying is needed. Would have liked a late check out but these requests never are acknowledged when you book.

I may recommend the Royal Palm to a friend.

Pros: The room was very clean. We liked the lay out with the kitchen, bathrooms, closed space and balcony over looking the ocean.
Cons: The sofa bed was terrible. At a bare minimum it needed to be reupholstered. In my opinion, it should be replaced.
Location: We liked the location but we may try the Maho location next time especially if they don't make the changes I suggested above.
Overall the experience was good. The hotel needs to make some major changes. The first change would be to make the hotel restaurant apart of the hotel. Currently the restaurant is a third class restaurant bad menu, poor quality of food and they no it. They have no accountability. Also, you can't charge a meal or a drink to your room...major inconvenience. The next thing that needs to change is the aggressive behavior by the concierge staff in trying to get you to go to a "time share" meeting. The incentive must be great to the staff because all of the activities they offer have a discount if you agree to the 90 min. meeting that they don't want to call a time share. When I refused to go to the meeting they messed up my 5 stop excursion on Billy Bones. Coincidence you decide.

Royal Palm Beach Resort in August

Posted Aug 24, 2017 on Hotels
We were in St Maarten for a week (Sat to Sat) and stayed at the Royal Palm Beach Resort located in Simpson Bay. Check in took a little longer than it should have due to technical problems but it was fine. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The pool was small but never too crowded and its proximity to the bar was good. The beach could do with some combing but wasn't ok. They had a good amount of chairs available so finding one to use was easy. The staff was friendly and didn't bother you. We avoided the "sales" pitch by not retrieving our welcoming package, thanks to our friends warning since they arrived a day prior to us. They did ask us a few time but other than that they didn't bother us. There were a lot of restaurants within walking distance if you decided not to eat at the resort that was a bonus. The Taste Factory is just down the road and is a good destination for some crepes and croissants. The only negative comment was that they kept losing power for small periods of time 1-2 times day but it wasn't specific to the Royal Palms so we didn't hold it against them. The Wifi was a little slow but not horrible for social media or web surfing.
