This place gets bad reviews and I have NO idea why

Pros: Clean and a very, very good location.
Cons: Ditch the pool-side activities quiz. That announcer was awful and it just makes a relaxing event cheesy instead. Leave that stuff for the cruise ships
Location: Perfect location. Plenty in walking distance.
I was leery about booking here because of the reviews, but opinions---everyone has one. I'm a rich guy and used to 5-star accommodations, but this was a great price and location (watching the planes land is a must). It's also next door to and shares restaurants with the only 5-star resort on the island... and that resort isnt even beach front. They share the same beach! Anyway, the staff I could tell may have an attitude with others, but they liked me. Smiling and a tip helps. I highly recommend this resort. The bedroom was great and very comfortable. The tourists visiting the island were a bit frumpy, but it was off-season.

Do Not Go! Save your money and vacation time.

Cons: Update your rooms and staff. Clean your pool and update do not water down your alcohol.
Location: Ocean Point was nice but you have to go through Sonesta Maho to get to the beach and spa.
This was not at all a 3.5-star hotel. The rooms were extremely dated and not clean. A hand full of the staff was friendly but most were also terrible. Save your money and time.

Great location of the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location. It is close to the airport and many other things. The beach is really nice and convenient and there isn't a lot of walking to do from the room to the beach. Great kids club too and the front desk staff was wonderful. The only complaint many people had was the service and how slowly we had to wait to even had utensils on our tables. There isn't much of a restaurant selection and the other restaurants you can make reservations for are on their other property about 15-20 minutes away. There's two restaurants that you can make reservations for but the staff isn't that friendly. The staff also isn't friendly in the bars around the hotel and pool.

Hotel was nice and the grounds was kept well. The hotel staff was okay. One waitress name Betina was awesome!!! She told us everything we needed to know and do on and off the resort site. My main complaint is the food. The Chinese restaurant is horrible. And the buffet Isn't too good either. Only one good restaurant is Points Grill!! Sonesta needs more restaurants and better FOOD!!

Nice area. Love the island

Pros: Location
Cons: The standard of the rooms. There was a constant musty/moldy scent from the vents
Location: easily accesible.
A bit disappointed with the standard of the hotel and the rudeness of most of the staff. Does not live up to the portrayal online. Oceanview turned out to be partial oceanview and premier is ocean view (not as advertised) There is a lot of room for improvement. The room had a strong moldy odor. I did not allowed these things to ruin my vacation but I will find another hotel in Maho for my next visit

Staff was very friendly and service was good

All the restaurants had very pleasant staff but dinner bookings at the three main ones were challenging. On the first day just after checkin we tried to get reservations for two persons and this was not possible. We complained at the desk and they were able to get one reservation for us. Then we asked around and we were told that although the reservations were booked we can go in person at 6:30 and make a request - this we did and was successful. Otherwise the stay was very pleasant and the location was great, we also had two free shows put on at the casino and these were quite entertaining. The nightly entertainment at the buffet restaurant was also enjoyable. Breakfast lines at the buffet were sometimes long and this was the only restaurant opened for breakfast. After 3 days the breakfast was monotonous. The room service was good in terms of cleaning but basic amenities such as shampoo and soap were only provided once in a 5-day stay. Our room did not have a view so it was not pleasing to sit in the veranda.

Pros: Staff was very personable
Cons: The food in the buffet was only okay. There was not a variety of food. If you came 15 minutes before breakfast is over there was hardly ever anything
Location: Location was perfect. and the views were amazing.
I absolutely loved this resort. The rooftop bar was the best. The pool water was always warm. The drinks stayed in heavy rotation. I enjoyed the club and casino across the street. The bed was uncomfortable as hell. However I did see a roach on the last day in my room.

The beach is lovely

I caught a guy,who just finished restocking my fridge, going through my purse and into my wallet. He didn't know I was in the room. So very disappointed and felt extremely violated.

service was unengaging or uncaring, the rooms were badly in need of upgrading, rusted tubs, missing or non-working stoppers in tub/sinks. would not recommend at this time.
