Sufficient for our purposes and excellent location

Posted Aug 27, 2017
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: It would be much more convenient, if one could charge the restaurant bill to our rooms. Also, a well outfitted fitness room would be useful.
The front desk clerk Adina was extremely helpful and helped make our stay enjoyable. The restaurant prepared excellent food, but the wait staff was poor.

Thank you for your honest feedback. My husband and I purchased this hotel about 18 months ago. We are slowly making improvements. A hotel and restaurant integrated computer system and an exercise room are on the lists. Thank you again for your comments.

Generally good, but could be more consistent

Posted Jul 19, 2017 on Hotels
Great location, good restaurant, nice front desk, basically fine except room cleaning was very inconsistent -- once it was skipped entirely and a second time when the room wasn't clean by 3:00 p.m. we had to ask specially and vacate our room so it could be cleaned. Seems pretty basic to hotel management to offer daily cleaning . . . also the bed is rather soft if that bothers you

The hotel staff was the best part of our stay. Destiny took us to the Fortress & airport, while sharing her knowledge. The room was small but clean. The hotel is well located but next to a smoky bar that generated a lot of early morning noise.

Thank you for your feedback! I apologize for our noisy neighbors. We have ordered 3 pane windows to try to block their noise. They should be installed in a few weeks. If you find yourself in Sitka please come see us. Thank you again.

Noisy at night!!

Posted May 29, 2017
Ok hotel, spendy for what you get, but in line for the area. It was memorial day weekend... It's next to a bar and really loud at night...until midnight, then it toned down. Have to keep window open for air, but would still be loud with window closed. Staff were great about the shuttle, including the 4:30 am ride to the ferry!!! That was awesome, but not enough to counter the lack of sleep :)

Thank you for your feed back! We are adding ceiling fans to most of the rooms. In Alaska it is generally cool enough to not need them but on occasion it can be a little warm. The Sitka Hotel is located in the downtown area which is great during the day but can be noisy at night. We will be opening more rooms on the other side of the hotel next month. If you find yourself in Sitka again please give us a try and ask for one of the quieter rooms. Thank you

Wait til construction done, extensive water damage!

Posted May 4, 2017 on Hotels
I seemed to have gotten last hotel room in town due to a conference....but they should have said more about being under construction. The staff was nice, but the room smelled of mold so badly that we spent more time in rental car,the beds are so old and used you feel and hear every spring when you move. They desperately need new pillows,as we used sweatshirts to build our own pillows because the ones provided were thin but lumpy. I have also never been to a hotel that check in so late and check out 10 am!! I'm also curious on why they lock lobby at 8pm,give you a "code" to open side door, but have other side door of hotel open 24 hrs for construction workers?? My daughter had gotten very ill after day 2 so, won't be staying there again. I believe the doctor will agree that breathing mold not good!!!
