We had just gotten off a cruise and arrived a bit before the normal check-in time and had to wait around for a while. The staff put our bags in a closet during the wait time so we could walk around town. When my wife and I did check-in the room was rather small and the bed requested on the original reservation was listed as a queen size, it was a twin. Although the room was clean the paint on the walls was scratched up from luggage and chairs. Having been to Sitka before I would have expected the weather to be cold and raining, but the sun was out and it warm. This made the room exceptionally warm (south facing view room) and there was only a small noisy exhaust fan to cool the room down. We ended up opening the window to cool things down, which allows the street and parking lot noise in. Luckily there is not a lot of night life in Sitka, so by 11:00 PM it was quite outside.
There was no breakfast available at the hotel, not sure who owns or operates the restaurant there, but it wasn't open until 11:00 AM. You have two choices, walk into town to the parent hotel, The Westmark or to the Fly and Fish Inn. Fly and Fish in was nice and a bit cheaper too. It would have been nice, especially with the prices paid for the room to at least have a continental breakfast provided.
