Skutustadir Vacation Packages
Skutustadir is situated about 180 miles (290 kilometers) northeast of Reykjavik, the national capital.
Navigate your way to the Lake Myvatn. This is an interesting spot to visit while you are in Skutustadir.
It's no surprise Skutustadir is such a hotspot for vacationers from across the globe; Iceland is home to a treasure-trove of great cities, attractions and landscapes. Ljosavatn, 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the east, and Husavik, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the south of Skutustadir are good spots to check out if you have the time.
Organise your transportation and head out to Myvatn, a transport and retail hub for the area, located less than 1 mile (1. 6 kilometers) from Skutustadir. The city has a number of points of interest, for example Leirhnjukur, Myvatn Nature Baths and Dimmuborgir. Make sure you don't head back to Skutustadir until you've spent a little time at Myvatn's Jarobodin, Namafjall and Lake Myvatn.
When you hear the call to adventure, follow the lead of active locals and spend the day hiking and caving.
Get to the heart of the Iceland food culture by visiting the region's restaurants or cafés. Lamb and sometimes root vegetables such as rutabagas and carrots are often used in food here. Typical meals are saltfiskur (dried and salted fish) and harofiskur (jerky type fish), but of course there are many more fine dishes for real food lovers. Mondlukaka (almond cake), a great way to finish your meal.
As you come to the end of your visit to Iceland, keep in mind that you can return time and time again. As the locals like to say: Once a guest, a friend forever.
