Interesting, weird hotel in central downtownPosted Oct 27, 2015
Fifteen minute walk to bus station. Hotel is central to downtown Sligo Unusual Hotel that almost works. Huge in outside structure and looks like it is several buildings thrown together. Without the ship shape would make absolutely no sense. This is reflected in the bar off the lobby where most people hung out in the middle of the pathway to the elevators and outdoors. Stairs to the second floor pass through the bar above. The river view rooms are nice as the river is interesting and tidal. Insist on the river view rooms as without them the rooms are a little bizare As I said to my family viewing the pictures later, yes the room was really that orange. Not most peoples taste, ok for one night, nauseating to live in. Breakfast looks the part but the quality of the iconic Irish lacked greatly. Really skip the breakfast and go get some real food and coffee without gross grounds in the pot, elsewhere close by. Same price and home cooked. Do not pay top money for this hotel if you can avoid it, but not over all bad. Really at best is a good three star. No way is it worth four or five star prices.

Back to the 70'sPosted Oct 9, 2015
The Glasshouse is well located in the center of town and along the river. It has a daring architecture that must have been admired in the 70's but is less fashionable today. The decoration of the rooms and of the lobby seem to have been unchanged since construction in the 70's.

Highly recommendedPosted Jul 26, 2015 on Hotels
Really impressed this was my second visit and I was very content again hotel is very appealing looking, the service excellent throughout and the view from my room was excellent. I have one minor gripe the menu in the restaurant is just a little too pretentious for my tastes, other than that it was superb and centrally located

More like a hostel than a hotelPosted Jul 8, 2015
Bare minimum, few amenities such as water, toiletries. No pool, inadequate room lighting. Blah breakfast. Good location

Good hotel for a quick stayPosted Jul 8, 2015
Pros: Location and service
Cons: Quality of breakfast and noise.
Location: It is right in the heart of town (bars and restaurants) and a 20 minute drive to the Benbulben.
The rooms are small but modern. The location is great and the staff is friendly. The breakfast is edible but not great. The only problem is that you can hear everything going on in the hallway. Our room was near the elevators so we heard people talking, coming and going all night.

Glasshouse Mid WeekPosted Jul 1, 2015 on Hotels
We went for a mid week 3 night break, unfortunately we both found the hotel a disappointment. The hotel is modern and generally very clean, despite this the carpets have become quite shabby in places with some staining in our room. We booked a double room but were provided with two single beds pulled together, not comfortable or what we paid for. I ordered a pint of Guinness, very poor quality and I noted I was not the only customer not completing their drink, I tried to replace it with a beer only to to be told the pump for my choice of beer was faulty (2 days running. We decided to have an evening meal in the hotel on our last night based on the advertised menu in the lift (looked really nice), only to find the menu on offer was completely different with my girlfriend having to have two starters as the advertised veg option not offered. Hotel residents are charged for the use of the car park, this is a first for me I have never had a hotel charge me extra for the use of the residents car park, you are not even charged at a reduced rate as you are charged at the same rate as non residents. Location is excellent, staff very polite but generally a very disappointing stay.
