Lovely hotel in a beautiful settingPosted Jul 14, 2017
Pros: The country setting and grounds were superb, making it lovely and quiet. There were deck chairs in the garden that was alongside the field.
Cons: The disabled facilities were disappointing, with a little more effort this could be wheelchair friendly. My wife was not able to use the shower at all
The hotel is in a superb rural location and has a huge field alongside. The room we were given was on the ground floor with a door that gave direct access out to the field that was great for our dog. There are two disabled parking bays nearest the main entrance and reception with a ramp alongside to manage the kerb, however once you reach the main entrance there are two large steps to get into the building. I then found out that there is ramped access at the side through a fire door that only opens from inside and goes into the bar. Why isn't there a ramp by the main door, the steps are wide enough? Once inside the hotel wheelchair access is adequate, but I was told that they did not have any accessible rooms, despite the website saying the hotel was accessible. We were 'upgraded' to a ground floor room that was lovely. It was large enough to just about enable a wheelchair. The bath had a fixed high level shower and although we had brought a bath board it would not fit neatly across the bath due to the bath rails in the middle. Consequently my wife did not feel safe or comfortable showering, if the bath had been replaced with a small wet area, with a fold down seat & a shower on a flexible hose and a few grab rails this would have been superb. Such a bathroom could be used by any person. It is a lovely hotel which is sadly let down by lack of disabled access at the main entrance and basic washing facilities. These are small things that could easily & cheaply be achieved.
Nice stay in typical English style hotelPosted Apr 22, 2017 on Hotels
It is a wonderful hotel, typical English style with an awesome park around and a green little paradise not far from the business area in Slough. Great service, good breakfast and nice rooms, to me everyone fits in this hotel which I will recommend to all my friends.
Very good value and good foodPosted Apr 19, 2017 on Hotels
We were allocated a dround floor room number 6 which overlooked a patio area with tables and chairs. At this time of the year it was unoccupied and so did not trouble us. The room was very comfortable with a king sized bed that was just right for us. We had Champagne afternoon tea and it was nicely presented and well served and above all delicious. The evening meal was also very good but the breakfast and service the following morning was fabulous. The grounds and surrounding area are very pleasant for a stroll. The were minor issues that the hotel dealt with and overall this offers very good value for money and we would certainly stay again.

room had an unpleasant smell, the bedding looked like it had already been slept in. breakfast uncooked mushrooms served and the scrambled eggs or should I say scrambled rubber. evening dinner overcooked chicken livers, and the main course duck breast was Inedible. The overall experience was very disappointing and there are much better hotels in the area and cheaper. will not be returning.

Not the best view from our room (101) but it was certainly very comfortable. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Would return.
