Great location - rooms needs renovation

The hotel does not have the regular high standard of a SAS Radisson Blu hotel. It is a hotel that needs a serious update in general but especially the rooms needs a total renovation.

Don't expect a 'Western-style' Radisson

Pros: Convenient for Downtown / Short Airport Transfer / All staff were pleasant.
Cons: The hotel is on a busy square, with two nightclubs in the near vicinity. If your room is on a lower floor on the left hand side, the bass from the nightclub will keep light sleepers awake until the early hours (4am) The hotel imo confused two twin beds with two single beds in a twin configuration. Could have been described or pictured more accurately. The standard 'feather' pillows that are in the room are ludicrously flat when laid on and gave no support. Although acceptable replacements were offered next day. Bath robes would be a welcome addition.

An OK hotel

Pros: Location, very central hotel close to local shops, restaurants, government buildings, etc
Cons: I asked for 2 double beds in a room and got 1 king size bed in in a room. Cleaning wasnt that good - fingerprints on kettle, doors etc and the bathroom tiles had dirt and discoloured grout
Location: Government buildings (parliament)are a block away, Levski national stadium,shops and restaurants are mins away. Night club and casino are next door

The location and staff could not be any better

Our luggage missed our flight and did not arrive until late next day. To make matters worse, they switched our luggage with another passenger. The staff tracked down the luggage and a colleague retrieved it from another hotel making us and the other passenger happy. Our room could have used a better sofa and climate control.. The window was left ajar, when asked was told that the a/c was turned off in the entire hotel. Sure enough when we returned and was assigned another room, the window was open. This room had two single beds, when we expected a king. Fortunately, this second stay was for a few hours.

Overpriced Services

Location: You can't get any better place in downtown, close to metro and front of Alex Nevsky's Monument and Parliament.
Clean, pleasent, room confortable even though I stayed in one otheir small rooms (only pictures would be useful). Very noisey as there are constructions around, and as I was facing the back of the building, permanent HVAC noise from the roof below could be heard. Laundry, breakfast, etc, overpriced. Anywhere between 2 to 3 times more expensive that what you can get in the street or other hotels.

Updates desperately needed at Radisson Blu

The staff was friendly and helpful and that was the highlight of the hotel, which was not up to Radisson Blu standards. There was loud construction happening in the hotel during the daytime -- drilling into concrete and heavy vibrations begin early in the day. This was not announced on the website, on booking, or at checkin. The rooms were old and in desperate need of renovation. The beds were fine but the other furniture was mismatched, tired, and uncomfortable. There were visible seams in the very old carpet, and unraveling gaps between the carpet and walls and doors. There was no difference that we could tell between the business class rooms and the standard rooms except double the price -- and those in our group that had business class rooms had a view of an alley instead of the main plaza out front. It is a good location, but the price for Sofia is exorbitant. There are many boutique hotels nearby for half the price or less that are far newer.
