This is the beautiful sunrise we experienced while staying in Caracol, just north of Playa del Carmen. The clouds were spectacular every morning and this morning was particularly gorgeous! I didn't come close to capturing the true beauty that morning!

When I finally decided to get serious with photography and purchased a decent camera, this was the 1st photo I ever took. Beautiful sunrise on Coco Beach. Fishing boats resting beachside. #blue The colorful fabrics of Mexico. I am in love! Fishing Place Playa del Carmen used to be a sleepy fishing village but now it is lively, active, and fun...with so much to see and do, both in the town and nearby. The beaches are lovely, the water warm, and after a relaxing day at the beach, we like to stroll through 5th Avenue (also known as Quinta Avenida), shopping, people-watching, and sampling different restaurants, coffees, and desserts.
Be careful, though...because this is a more touristy section of Playa, and you may find yourself spending more than you should. Be adventurous, as well...and go beyond this pedestrian-only 40 block area, to explore more local treasures.
This photo was taken in one of the small shops right on 5th Avenue. Tourist People #cancun #WaterLust Great place for sunrise or sunset with or without bad weather, mind the guards at the docks, they can be a bit annoying. I love this place 🙌🏻❤️ Shady spot on a beautiful sunny beach. Deck mayakoba Boat Display La Choza del Winik is a great, inexpensive place to pick up food on the corner of Av 10 and 46 (CTM). This carne asada chimichanga was excellent, and I can highly recommend the fish tacos too. The owners speak English, but they're happy to help if you want to practice your Spanish. If you happen to stop at La Vagabunda on Quinta, try the creamy tortilla soup! It comes with avocado, colourfully dyed taco strips and dried poblano chilli - cheap and delicious! Vacation last spring. Amateur photography. This is adorable... but what does it mean?? hehe I'm sure they don't think I'm a piggy. I mean yes, some days I eat both lunch and dinner there but that's not weird, right? Chou Chou is one of my favorite cafes in Playa del Carmen. This little shop on calle 14 between 5th and 10th Ave's is owned by Ali, a local Mexican lady who fills her shop with handicrafts made primarily by members of her family. She says her father likes hearts, so most things heart-shaped are made by him. Ali also purchases items handcrafted my the Mayan community to re-sell in her store... it's how she supports the Mayan community. If you happen upon her shop Ali will cheerfully show you around her store and if you're lucky, may even offer you a shot of tequila! Beautiful and colorful Playa del Carmen! Colorful Pillows for sale.... This is one of our favorite resorts in the Riviera Maya. South of Cancun and just north of Playa del Carmen, it is set in a gated community with a few other really nice resorts.
While we did miss our ocean view rooms at the previous resort (it's very expensive to get a villa with ocean views here!), we thoroughly enjoyed the service and the food. From the moment we arrived, we were treated kindly and professionally.
The pools were beautiful, as was the lagoon (seen in the photo). The only downside was that the beach was a bit too narrow, and the swimming area directly in front of the resort not as smooth and rock-free. But otherwise, our experience here was excellent.
For more photos of the Riviera Maya, see: www.myglobalgetaways.com. We were introduced to El Fogon by our very first taxi driver when we arrived into Playa. We asked for an inexpensive but excellent place to eat and he right away suggested El Fogon, located just across the street from La Mega. We're indebted to him! The food was delicious.
A few weeks later, we were exploring other areas of Playa, less touristy, and we stumbled upon our second El Fogon. It was a less crowded, the service was even friendlier, and the food just as excellent. A major advantage? The prices were better! You can find this second location on 30th, west of La Mega.
