Great place to unwind
I was nervous after reading the one star review. The property is, indeed on a windy one lane road, but that’s how you get to somewhere off the beaten path. It was a great stay. It is an older country property and had a few eccentricities, but overall, we enjoyed our stay very much. I would come again, next time maybe in summer or fall. House was perfect for dogs with a stained concrete floor on the main level. Cooking with that great stove and oven was a joy.

House is located in a very rural area with a one lane road for two way traffic. I used two navigation systems to get to the property; GPS had a difficult time directing us accurately. I was give a gate code and a house code to unlock them. The first problem we encountered was the keypad for the gate was hooked up but the automatic gate opener wasn’t hook up!!! I spent a hour on the phone typing and retyping the code in the cold with the property manager. Finally we were told to open a combination lock on the gate. There are no sensor lights on the gate or the house. There were uninstalled solar lights lying on the ground along with trash. The house is not welcoming; you walk into a freezing cold house. House was in the 50’s when we got here and theres an old style wall heater downstairs but no controls to turn it on. Two small portable heaters were in a spare bedroom upstairs. I ran both downstairs and the room just couldnt get warm. I asked about a heater and was mislead prior to arrival. If host knew this to be true why wouldn’t they have put some wood in the house since they have a small wood burning stove downstairs? I asked about if the wood burning stove was operational and about wood that was stacked at an adjacent shed and never got the thumbs up or instructions on how to use it from the property mgr. The house looks like it will eventually be a nice place to stay at but they listed it before the remodel they are doing is complete. Theres a beautiful Viking stove in the kitchen and the rest of the small appliances looked old and dirty. I wanted to make tea to warm up but I couldn’t find a spoon. I found all utensils still in the dishwasher. The toaster oven was dirty and so was the cutting board. The stairs leading to the second floor don’t look finished. We were given a wifi password, but it was mistyped so we had no wifi for first day. There is a tv and no service provider. The tv had HDMI cables sitting by it but nothing to hook into. We never got hot water; my husband and I took quick luke warm and unpleasant showers. The bed was super hard and uncomfortable. House does NOT match the listing. Again it feels like somebody listed it before finishing or cleaning the house. Their property mgr was empathetic but in NC so there was nobody local to help us in real time. Make sure house is done before renting!
