On arrival at approximately 8.00 pm we parked our car and went to Reception. First impressions for a hotel listed as four star was not very good, an opening in the wall of a large area where there were lots of people milling around from the wedding reception taking place and children running everywhere.
The gentleman who booked us in then said he would show us to our room, Rookery no 8. Before leaving the reception area he asked us to wait while he checked if there was anyone in the restaurant. He came back and said it would be quicker to go through the restaurant to our room. I must say we were embarrassed to walk through the tables being used by diners with our suitcase and clothes on hangers, I am of the opinion that if I had been dining I would not have been pleased to see 2 guests walking through with luggage.
The room itself was very spacious and clean. It was very warm in the room so I went to open the 2 windows, trying to open one of them the handle fell off. About 10.30 we were awaken by someone loading a van outside and I had to get up and close the window to cut down the noise. Having to do this made the room very warm. Also as the window faced the Gym where the outside light was on all night the room was illuminated through the curtains. From about 7.30 there were a couple of vans unloading outside and staff bringing trolleys round to the area to the right of the window.
