Conveniently near to town centre

Posted May 14, 2015
Pros: The cooked breakfast was very good and service in the dining room was excellent.
Cons: Staff could be more visible in the hotel. Reception desk was always unattended and you had to ring a bell for attention.
Location: Five minute walk from town centre, shops and restaurants.
The hotel was very clean and conveniently positioned near to Taunton town centre, within walking distance. Although the hotel boasted a bar I never saw it open once during my stay. The bedroom was quiet, but unfortunately there were 2 single beds not the double I had requested. Very narrow single beds with an even smaller duvet cover which did not stay on during the night. Unsuitable for a larger person like myself. Nice shower in the bathroom but light did not work and was not fixed despite repeated requests. Also at the sink no cold water tap, two hot water taps instead! The room was light during day time but insufficient bright lighting at night meant it was not possible to see to read. Staff on the whole were very pleasant, but not able to resolve my problems. I was told that electricians did not work in Taunton from Friday-Monday when I asked for my lights to be mended!!

Close to town centre

Room was really spacious and amenities were just what we needed. Unfortunately, the bed was very uncomfortable and both me and my partner had an uncomfortable nights sleep. Very nice room though and very useful for the town centre and for where we needed to be.

Pleasant stay

Posted Feb 11, 2015 on Hotels
First time staying in the hotel, it was a pleasant stay. The rooms are of a good proportion and clean. Even though on a busy road the noise did not disturb me. The hotel is in a very good a short walk into the town centre and a good selection of eateries nearby. The car park is a little cramped and the breakfast choice a little limited, however I would definitely stay here again since it was an improvement on the other couple of hotels in a similar price range I have stayed in.

Alright if you just want a place to sleep

The person who showed me to my room didn't offer to help me with my luggage. The room was large and quiet (despite facing the road) and had a reasonable WiFi connection, but it was cold. The car park is very small. I might come return to the hotel, but there wasn't anything to really draw me back, so I'll look for another one to try.

Expensive for the level of comfort

Posted Nov 21, 2014
Ok ish hotel. Breakfast very good, but room decor very dated and more like a mid range B&B. I found it a bit expensive for what was provided, particularly for Taunton.

Single traveller = Short mesaure?

Pros: Polite and efficient staff....
Cons: Provide a room with enough space for all the shinny furniture e.g. working desk etc. seemingly shown in the glossy advertising....
Arriving late you get a room which has barely enough space for a double bed alone. There was just enough room for the small bedside tables, even then one was covered witha table lamp and the phone, the other with the tea making equipment tray . Otherwise just one chair and no work desk/ surface or task lamp of any sort. Clearly not geared up for the business traveller...
