Clean, elegant, older style fancy hotel. We stay in Napa and Sonoma a lot, and somehow had not stayed at the Fairmont. They have a great reputation as being a luxurious and relaxing place. We stayed in the "entry level king" room. I have to say, we weren't impressed overall. It feels like an updated studio apartment in an SF but much smaller. The parking situation was silly. They "offer" you valet parking for $40 a day, or you could self park included in the resort fee. No problem, self park is super convenient. Parking lot is full, pull around to the front again and funny thing, they will Valet it complimentary (us and a line of cars, they obviously knew it was full). Then they tried to charge us because we just left the car parked for the stay (we took their excellent shuttle (bonus!) into town and a limo to wine taste the next day). Be aware the mineral pools/hot tub (not exactly sure if it is actually water from the geothermal pools? is it?) are not included in your stay ( I think $90). We ate at the restaurant for breakfast and a fancy dinner. Food was good, service was awkward, slow and over the top. Our dinner was 2 hours long. It was absurd. At the end of the meal our waiter brought us a conciliatory dessert (not the dessert we ordered at the start of the meal) and said he was sorry but they were waiting on a bigger party in a different room (oh gee, thanks a lot ). They didn't comp anything but the dessert we didn't order and gave us a box of chocolates.
