Old outdated staff not up to par for nearly $1k a night. Rooms like motels.

Beautiful hotel and grounds with wonderful staff. I will definitely be back! But for being the Fairmont I would expect a nicer pool. Other than that, this hotel is awesome!

Long weekend in Sonoma

Posted Jul 25, 2017
Pros: The grounds and spa services
Cons: The main building rooms were somewhat small and there was a lack of a "sundries" forcing us to pay room service fees for snacks if needed.
Location: Sonoma is wine country - do I need to say more?
As first time visitors to the Sonoma area we were thrilled to stay at the Mission Inn & Spa. We were not disappointed! The property was lovely and the service excellent. It was a very busy weekend and if we visit again we may look at off season dates - the pool(s) were crowded and limited availability for spa services. Our room was basic and in the original building - a bit small especially for the price but otherwise comfortable. The only downside if there was any was the lack of a sundries shop - sometimes you don't need full room service to grab a snack in between meals! I would highly recommend.

Would not stay again. Not worth the price!

Very disappointing for a Fairmont! One of the most expensive rooms I have paid for and by far the most disappointing. Stay at a hotel around Sonoma Plaza instead that is surrounded by shops & dining. The dining at the Fairmont is outrageosly priced. The rooms are dated, staff very rude & the spa way below standard. Bathrooms with showers and lockers not even in same area as spa. I had a 60+ year old masseuse who talked the entire time I was getting my massage. The pools were not refreshing at all being over 90 degrees when it was over 90 outside ! Avoid this tourist trap! This place felt like a retirement community not a resort. Save your money!!!!

Great hotel, great staff, but....

Pros: Everything
Cons: During week days, the pool bar closes at 5p. The lobby bar opens around the same time (4p?). It would be nice to have the wait staff work until 6:30
Location: Great location. Great things to do.

Not your average Sonoma/Napa hotel

Posted Jul 9, 2017
Pros: Architecture was pleasing and the staff remained friendly despite the rush of a holiday weekend which they didn't seem equipped to handle.
Cons: Rooms facing the dumpster should not be marketed as rooms.
Location: Bike to Sonoma Square
To be honest, we made last minute reservations and were glad to find a room over the July 4th holiday. However, my more cynical side now says, there's a reason why we got a room.... the hotel is not in the hub of every thing you want to do in the region, and It's best to be marketed as it's own destination. The hotel staff were friendly, but slow moving. After a super late check-in at 5:45 pm (way passed the promised 4 O'clock), we still couldn't get our luggage delivered to our room for another hour, and nobody could tell us why it was taking so long. Given that after they had been ticketed by the reception, they were left unattended in the hotel lobby, I got suspicious that they might've been lost or stolen. Luckily they weren't. The Bell staff was just overwhelmed or disorganized. Our room can best be described as an adequate bed to sleep on. The windows were a white out that made them non see through and I assumed it was to offer privacy, but once my husband peered over the top he saw that it was because we were facing the dumpster! The short conclusion: Be sure you specify what kind of room you want. I didn't know that dumpster view was even an option.I thought parking lot was as bad as it got! However, to be fair, due to our time constraints we didn't take the time to take advantage of everything that the hotel had to offer, and our experience might've been different had we stayed more than one night.

Quaint hotel in heart of Sonoma

Posted Jul 7, 2017
Pros: The spa pool. In room dining. Jerry.
Our stay at the Fairmont started off a little rough at first due to our room not being ready on time and not enough staff being able to assist with check-ins. But I made contact with the front office manager, and he absolutely made our weekend. He was extremely courteous and easy to work with, and more than made up for the poor experience we initially had upon arrival. Ended up being a fantastic weekend at the Fairmont, and I owe a great deal of that to the front office manager. Thank you, sir!

Rooms a bit old and needing updating but very comfortable. Husband gave up on pool as no towels. Pool crowded. Breakfast very pricey. Pretty grounds and relaxing space in front of hotel.
