Great, historic building, not lavish by any means

Posted Jul 9, 2016
Pros: Cleanliness and staff
Cons: Wine hour; not sure how you remedy the slanting rooms??
Location: Across the street from a fun coffee place, but otherwise too far to walk to the main square or wineries.
We had a comfy stay, overall Housekeeping did a fantastic job and rooms were very clean. Turn down service was a nice touch. Rooms in the main building are not exactly level - not sure about the others. Things that were placed on the furniture rolled down as if we were on hill - a bit odd when lying in bed. Grounds are lovely. Staff was excellent - very accommodating and helpful! Wine hour was not enjoyable as compared to wine hour experiences at other hotels. On our first night (July 3), they ran out of wine?? What?! The next time we tried wine hour with Benzinger on July 6, the lady pouring was rude and selective in providing service with a smile. I was standing there and was ignored while others who came AFTER me were greeted warmly. Wine wasn't even good either. The Fairmont is a generally nice place to stay in Sonoma. We prefer hotels and B&Bs in Napa so will only return if necessary.

Good Wine Touring Location

Posted Jun 26, 2016
Half way between Napa and Sonoma Valleys is this beautiful hotel that's great for relaxing (spa), elegant dining, and comfortable beds. Professional personnel are friendly and accommodating. It's pricey but nice!

Nice hotel to relax in wine country.

Posted Jun 8, 2016
Pros: Comfortable, Quiet, beautiful and a free shuttle to town and back.
Cons: The air conditioning was running well during the day and evening but seemed to hibernate over night so the room became uncomfortable for sleeping.
Location: One night only...tasty dinner at the Girl and the Fig, hiked in the morning, breakfast at Sunshine Cafe and finished our stay relaxing at pool!
Wonderful resort to relax at. Most Staff were very attentive and went above and beyond expectations to please us. The grounds are beautiful and overall a very lovely experience.

Beautiful

Posted May 25, 2016
Lovely nooks and crannies to escape into with a good book or whatever. Beautiful landscape well maintained. Supportive staff always smiling. My only negative comment would be the wait staff at breakfast X2. Friendly but slow and forget full

Great Sonoma hotel

Posted May 24, 2016
Great location. Close enough to the square but far enough to feel like a retreat. Spa and gym are nice. Wish for more amenities. Have stayed other places at same price point that include wine tasting with food. Fairmont has daily wine tasting but only food to purchase. Felt a little cheap. It was our 20th anniversary and my husband sent flowers and champagne to the room. Would have been nice if hotel did something as well. Again at this price point expect more. Would stay again but didn't feel anything special.
