Cons: No lounge chair mat's (uncomfortable) or jacuzzi at the main pool. Spa pool does but $39 per person to use it!
Celebrated our Anniversary. The hotel grounds, beautiful. Room was comfortable. Liked the complementary wine reception, and coffee/tea in the morning. Main pool was beautiful but no lounge chair mat's (uncomfortable) or jacuzzi. Spa pool does but charges.

Elegant relaxation

Pros: Best features... quality beds, relaxing garden atmosphere throughout the grounds, spa and restaurant on-site, and an efficient, capable staff.
Location: A car is necessary: visit the town of Sonoma (shops, restaurants, & historic buildings), the many wineries, and several good walking paths nearby.
On this stay, my party booked "historic" rooms. Though smaller rooms and lesser expense, they still were elegant, comfortable, and as quiet as any of the rooms I've stayed in before. It is a lovely garden setting throughout the complex. Wonderful staff throughout and the pools, spa, and restaurant are some of the nicest I've ever enjoyed. Beds, pillows, and linens extra comfy too.

The location is not great

Excellent facilities

Pros: I loved all their facilities and pools
Cons: More restaurant options in the hotel grounds
Location: Excellent location and close to wineries
Always a pleasure staying at that location in Sonoma have wonderful Spa and Spring Water in all pool facilities my favorite;) Will go back soon

Very relaxing experience

Pros: Just about everything
Cons: Fitness room was fine but not great. Our room was a bit cramped.
Location: Perfect for wine tasting tours in Sonoma
Very nice hotel. Clean, quiet, extremely friendly staff. breakfast in the restaurant was outstanding.

Great, historic building, not lavish by any means

Pros: Cleanliness and staff
Cons: Wine hour; not sure how you remedy the slanting rooms??
Location: Across the street from a fun coffee place, but otherwise too far to walk to the main square or wineries.
We had a comfy stay, overall Housekeeping did a fantastic job and rooms were very clean. Turn down service was a nice touch. Rooms in the main building are not exactly level - not sure about the others. Things that were placed on the furniture rolled down as if we were on hill - a bit odd when lying in bed. Grounds are lovely. Staff was excellent - very accommodating and helpful! Wine hour was not enjoyable as compared to wine hour experiences at other hotels. On our first night (July 3), they ran out of wine?? What?! The next time we tried wine hour with Benzinger on July 6, the lady pouring was rude and selective in providing service with a smile. I was standing there and was ignored while others who came AFTER me were greeted warmly. Wine wasn't even good either. The Fairmont is a generally nice place to stay in Sonoma. We prefer hotels and B&Bs in Napa so will only return if necessary.

Good Wine Touring Location

Half way between Napa and Sonoma Valleys is this beautiful hotel that's great for relaxing (spa), elegant dining, and comfortable beds. Professional personnel are friendly and accommodating. It's pricey but nice!
