Garden room had balcony but only overlooked a path

Posted May 25, 2016
Pros: Location cleanliness friendly staff
Cons: Make sure that description of garden room clearly states it does not look out over the gardens if it is a room by the pool annex
Location: Wonderful place to visit
If booking again would go for sea view but everything else was excellent.

excellent location

Posted May 24, 2016
Pros: Mainly the location of it
Cons: Thought the hot breakfast could include cooked tomatoes. The streaky bacon was also not to everyone's taste and could have been cooked for longer.
Location: location was great and close to the main square and railway/bus station and all within easy walking distance, which was extremely helpful
Beautiful sea view and gardens. Hotel is close to the main square where it all happens and within easy walking distance. It is also close to the Sorrento railway and bus station, which was helpful in getting around. Staff were also helpful and courteous at all times

Great location, spacious rooms, lovely dining room

Posted May 16, 2016
Pros: The floors! As mentioned, it's a lovely property in great condition. Their pride in the property and in providing excellent service is obvious.
Cons: As mentioned, a cafe menu and available bar service off the lobby (in the shade) would be great. Too bad.
Location: Travelers can't go wrong with this hotel. Easy walk to town. Street-side rooms were noisy, but the balconies were great.
Really professional hotel and restaurant staff. Terrific chefs, elaborate breakfast buffet, beautiful dinners, spacious rooms with all amenities. The only negative is that bar service to the grand terrace is spotty, and light lunches or happy hour type food is not available anywhere but at the pool. The upper bar/lounge wasn't staffed at all during the day, which is a real shame. This property is owned by a family that owns several other hotels, too. I suspect this helped insure timely early taxis, quick laundry service and well-trained servers. Big thumbs up for excellence in all the services provided. We would have also enjoyed service to the lobby without getting cleaned up for the dining room.

Pros:

Central location in Sorrento

Posted Apr 19, 2016
Pros: Everything: staff, decor, quality of service and location.
Cons: Free ice machines on each floor, tea/coffee facilities in the rooms.
Location: Very central, train station, buses and centre of town only 5-10 mins walk away. Museo Correale di Terranova 2 minutes away and worth a visit.
Fantastic hotel. All staff are friendly, professional and extremely helpful, providing a first class service. Comfortable room; clean, quiet and spacious. Breakfast is wonderful, providing a wide variety of offerings with cheerful service in a luxurious setting. The terrace provides exceptional views across the bay, making it hard to tear yourself away. We will be returning to this fabulous place asap.

Nice hotel with beautiful view

Posted Apr 19, 2016
Pros: The views, the staff, the food.
Location: The hotel is located on a cliff overlooking the sea in the center of Sorento. Capri and Pompeii are nearby.
We spent 3 days at the Grand Hotel Royal. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a myriad of options. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The views were amazing.

Simply the Best.

Posted Apr 15, 2016
Location: Well located for train station serving archaeological sites and Naples. 5 minutes walk from centre of Sorrento and the delightful Correale museum.
Excellent comfort and cleanliness, fabulous view, exemplary staff, decent breakfast, good restaurant. With our flight arriving late pm, and realising literally as we were leaving home that buses from Naples airport end at about 19.30 and trains from Naples centre at 21.30, after a quick phone call to the hotel, within 10 minutes an airport pick-up was arranged, and confirmed by email. End of panic. Advice on train strikes, ferries to Naples, trips to Capri, weather forecasts, loan of umbrellas, all were dealt with so pleasantly by the desk staff. Unprecedented views over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius and pleasant gardens even from the dining room at breakfast and dinner. Helpful, attentive and professional restaurant staff. Fantastic value for money at this quality in quite an expensive resort.
