An oasis of tranquility in a beautiful setting

As we stepped through the gate into the gardens of Relais Villa Savarese, it was like stepping into a different world, into an oasis of calm where day to day cares can be left far behind. The villa is beautiful and well maintained, and the hospitality is simply superb: warm and friendly with a personal touch, yet unobtrusive. All our needs were taken care of and nothing was too much trouble. For the four days we were there, we were thoroughly spoiled. It was our 20th wedding anniversary, so Angela upgraded our room and provided a complementary bottle of fizz on arrival. Every morning we were greeted by a mouth-watering breakfast buffet, with a different selection of cereals, fresh bread and pastries, cakes, cheese, eggs, cold meats, fruit, yoghurt, and a delicious freshly cooked flan or frittata. This set us up for the day so we didn't need to eat lunch!
We were late in the season so several places were shut, but we still found good places to eat in the evening. Just a few minutes walk away is a terrace with stunning views over Sorrento, Vesuvius and the bay of Naples. This was a perfect spot to sit and watch the sunset.
The villa is located a 15-20 minute walk from Sorrento, and very close to the public transport network, so getting to Herculaneum, Pompeii and Vesuvius was very straightforward. This was the perfect spot for exploring this lovely part of the world, and we haven't encountered a warmer welcome anywhere else that we have stayed.
