Beautiful boutique hotel in the rainforest

Posted Dec 5, 2017
Pros: The breakfast is amazing. Pool views can't be beaten and easy shuttle to the beach twice a day. Truffles in your room.
Cons: The concierge staff was good, not great. All nice & efficient. Not overly thrilled to help us book excursions or explain the lay of the land.
Location: Located up in the hills. The hotel is great about providing transport. Walk to the Volcano and Mud Baths, across the street from Ladera.
We chose to stay at Hotel Chocolat because of the beautiful Piton view and the well-reviewed restaurant, both of which did not disappoint. Room- The room was nice, but we were in lodge 2, which probably had the least desirable view on the property, but was close to the restaurant/concierge. Room was a good size and very comfortable. The mosquito netting kept us safe from bugs. The hotel also provided bug spray. The ceiling, floor fan and breeze kept us cool at night. The semi-outdoor shower was amazing and the towels were very soft. Hotel also provided water, truffles and little cocoa nib cookies each day, which was very much appreciated Food- Breakfast was incredible. Dinner is expensive but very good, but cheaper than going elsewhere and paying for taxi each way. Definitely don't bother with Ladera's Dasheene across the street-- it was TERRIBLE. Tours-We arranged all of our excursions through the hotel, which was great. It felt kind of weird being shuttled around, but it sure made it easy. We did the snorkeling, Gros Piton, Bean to Bar, and Sunset Cruise. All were worth it. Pool- Amazing place to lounge in or out of the sun with pool snacks provided and an honesty bar stocked with soda and beer. Beach- Easy shuttle from hotel to Soufriere to boat. A fun way to travel! Guests of HC are permitted to use the free chairs to the left of the jetty, which we were able to get each time we went, and there was some shade. Great snorkeling right off the beach.

Amazing hideaway with a view of Petit Piton

Posted Nov 25, 2017
We arrived just as the sunset and were given complimentary drinks prior to being escorted to our cabin. The accommodations are charming and unique, giving a great opportunity to “unplug” from the world. With that said, there is access to internet and we had no problem connecting. Our cabin had fresh towels and linens daily along with water, truffles, and cookies. Other snacks were complimentary too. (The complimentary rum was pretty phenomenal too.) Dinner was well worth it. We are vegetarians and, while the menu was limited for us, it was absolutely delicious. Dessert is a must! We aren’t ones for tours but the plantation tour and chocolate making was educational and lots of fun. The nursery supervisor is a cacao genius...seriously. We got to graft our our cacao tree which will be planted on the plantation. It may have been a joke but we might get some free chocolate from it... The spa was well worth every cent...very reasonably priced, and Agnes is simply amazing! Overall, we had great experience. If you’re into a party scene with extra modern accommodations, stay else. This place is classy and full of character. very quiet in the evenings, except for the sounds of nature surrounding you.

A quiet hideout

Posted Nov 4, 2017
Pros: The staffs had make our stay very wonderful. Their services reminds me of our stay in Singapore Ritz-Carlton. The food is nice and the wifi is fast.
Cons: If the room have air condition or an extra standing fan that would be great. Thank you for the off spray.
Location: We just relax at the hotel. It too peaceful and quiet.
If you are looking for a quiet hideout and overlooking the beautiful Piton and sunset and good wifi. This is the place. The room is big. Though there are no air air condition in the room, i think the idea is to enjoy the natural breeze, they also provide OFF spray in the room.

Gorgeous hotel, great food.

Posted Oct 16, 2017
Pros: Beautiful locale with great staff, amenities, and food.
Cons: Be aware that the entire hotel is open air, so there is no A/C. There are fans everywhere and plenty of breeze, so we were definitely comfortable.
Location: Hike up to Gros Piton or go scuba diving at Anse Chastenet. The hotel can help arrange any trips or tours you want to do and are very amenable.
We had amazing stay at Hotel Chocolat on our honeymoon in Saint Lucia. We highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel

Posted Aug 1, 2017
It is a small but lovely hotel. Nice size rooms with semi outdoor showers. If you don't mind the sound of crickets and birds at night then you will love it. There is no television but they have plenty of books. The infinity pool is small but it's nice nonetheless. It would be nice if they had a gym or some daily entertainment for the guests. If you are on vacation to relax and unwind then this hotel is perfect for you. The beach is about 15-20 minutes away. The hotel has free shuttle that takes you to the dock then you can hop on the hotel's boat for a 5 minute ride to Sugar Beach. The customer service is superb! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The complimentary Breakfast is excellent! I looked forward to it every morning I was there. Dinner is great also but I think it's a little pricey. They also incorporate chocolate into everything which is a little annoying but the food was still great. Overall great hotel.

It's perfect

Posted Jul 28, 2017
I had the most amazing experience staying at the Hotel Chocolat. the location is perfect. It's close to all the major attractions. The hotel has the most stunning view of the Pitons and the jungle. The rooms/houses are veIry unique and beautiful. My concern prior to arrival was that the hotel is in the jungle and we won't be able to go to the beach. In reality, this hotel takes you to one of the best beaches on the island twice a day. The travel to the beach is an experience on its own. First, there is a 10 minute ride in an air conditioned car, and then a 5 minute boat ride to the beach. It's amazing! Also worth mentioning that the chocolate tours are very informative abd engaging.

Hotel Chocolat, the Jade, or Ladaro what to chose.

Posted Jun 14, 2017
Pros: The food was top notch on the island, the staff was always professional, and the excursions were fun.
Cons: They need to have more night life or music. Also, they need more accommodations they did not have suntan lotion and I lost mine,so had to go elsewhere
Location: Sulfur springs, Climb the Gros Piton, and take the Boat ride to Margot Bay, Pigeon Island, and see where parts of Pirates of Caribbean was filmed.
The Views- Larado, Jade, Chocolat Chocolat has a breath taking view of the Pitons right from the pool, you can sit in the pool and have a majestic backdrop behind you. However, at Ladaro you get the same view and more because Ladaro is located probably ¼ mile in front of chocolat and not only do you get the same view but you get the added addition of seeing the Caribbean sea as well. At the Jade you are higher up and father away so you get a great distant view of the sea and the Pitons. The Food- Chocolat, Jade, Ladaro Chocolat has by far the BEST food on the island and has a menu of variety. The meat is perfectly cooked and cuts like butter. The eggs I had for breakfast seemed to be made by Gordon Ramsey himself. Even if you do not stay at Chocolat, you should atleast grab a meal. The Jade is $$$ and has a fixed menu, Great but better at Chocolat. Ladaro’s food was good, they had some American options like burgers and fries, but it falls last on this list. Comfort- Ladaro & Chocolat,Jade Ladaro has music or entertainment on every night, each room has its own pool (although the Jade has this as well) and the store had accommodations that I needed (suntan lotion). Hotel Chocolat is secluded and is right near the sulfur springs. The Jade is so far from everything, it is quaint but just not for us. It was nice to eat at Chocolat for diner and then walk over to Ladaro for the night life and walk back for some peace and quit in our secluded room. None of these hotels have A/C

Great Food and Everything Else

Posted Jun 11, 2017 on Hotels
We had a great time! "Cook to order breakfast" does not do this event justice. We started with a platter of fruit and little smoothies, then yogurt with granola, oatmeal cooked with coconut milk (or whatever milk you want), and a huge plate of bacon, eggs, vegetables, toast or plate of daily, yummy special. Our room was wonderful with the shower like a forest rain. The water came down like rain and we could see up into the trees and sky. Our luxury room included a deck with a great view of the piton. My husband wanted air conditioning, so he booked a separate hotel at the beach (our family of four kept switching who stayed at Hotel Chocolat and who stayed at the beach). His place was also great, but the showers at Hotel Chocolat were way better, the view from the room was way better, and we ate breakfast each day at Hotel Chocolat. My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful massage at the spa. We were also told if my husband struggled with the heat, we could get an extra fan for our room. My only suggestion for improvement is I wish the staff had smiled more. If you're used to other countries where the concierge gets their pay from the activities; that doesn't seem to be the case in St. Lucia. Both Hotel Chocolat and my husband's place charge to book activities. The bean to bar activity was fun. I also enjoyed the night sounds, so didn't use the ear plugs they provided. I definitely recommend Hotel Chocolat and will stay here again if we return.
