The best hotel experience we every had. My husband and I spent the first 2 nights of our honeymoon here. We wish we had more time here. It was a perfect location, beautiful views, close to several excursions we did. The hotel staff was amazing. The food was exceptional. The complimentary breakfast far succeeded our expectations. We loved the peace and tranquil nature of the property. My husband and I are major dark chocolate fans. We grafted our own cocoa plant while we were there. I am vegetarian, and every meal was amazing. The hotel staff had exceptional concierge service.

Great staff and beautiful location. Inconvenient beach shuttle only runs twice per day. No TV or WiFi in room. Room is open to the elements which was nice until we got noisy neighbors playing loud music. Breakfast was included, but food was average with limited options. We ate dinner at Ladera resort across the street twice (better food and view).

One of the top properties I have ever visited. Judy and her amazing staff has turned this into a home away from home for its visitors. I am looking forward to many more visits in the future. The Lux Lodges are worth the upgrade.

Facilities–Hotel very well maintained. No amenities except for a pool. We wished there was a gym and other onsite facilities+ entertainment. Free snacks by the pool was nice Restaurant–Only one restaurant but the food was phenomenal. It is quite expensive. Guests do receive an amazing/filling breakfast. One other restaurant in walking distance Location–Very limited restaurants in the area! Even if willing to taxi limited to maybe 4 restaurants. There can be quite a bit of car noise from the road. You have to go into the city for an ATM/store. Taxis are very expensive $40 USD round trip for an 8 min drive per direction Room–Luxe room with a balcony and view of the Piton (amazing). Room was modern and clean. Loved the rain shower. There is a mosquito net but woke up with new bites every day. Nice free room snacks replaced daily Activities–Loved the bean to bar, Gros Piton hike. There is a mini spa, good massage but expensive ($130USD). Number of boat tours which we did not try. Many nearby hikes which we enjoyed, also visited waterfalls in the area. Hotel activities were expensive but worth it Staff-For the most part great. Often had the impression we annoyed the staff whenever we asked for anything. One day we went to the beach and the boat broke down for pickup. No one called/emailed and waited 30mins before one of us found the number to call. A little initiative would have been nice (could have sent a taxi immediately or found one of our numbers/emails) and maybe an apology

thank you for your lovely review. As you probably saw we have a very young team on property who we are constantly training. The incident with the boat was the first of its kind so we have used this to put standards in place for the future. We do apologise if this had a negative impact on your holiday but hope you would consider coming back so you can see the improvements made.

loved it. the only thing I didn't like was that it was a bit of a maze to get to the room. A few directional signs would help. That being said, the room and the view were beautiful, well-maintained, and generous. The views were incredible. The pool, restaurant, view, and menus were exceptional.

wonderful boutique hotel with personal touches.

Posted Mar 19, 2018
Pros: The rooms were large, private and open aired. The decor is sleek, minimal and tranquil. The views were beautiful as well as the pool and restaurant.
Hotel Chocolat is a beautiful small hotel (only 12 bungalows) with personal touches and amazing views high in the mountains of St. Lucia. The luxe rooms are higher, have more privacy and have an amazing balcony. All rooms have no A/C and no TVs. They are open air cabins with tranquil and sleek decor. The hotel stands on a cacao plantation and offers tours that include graphing your own cacao tree and tasting cacao straight from the farm. The restaurant is cacao infused and does a great job with unique dishes. Breakfast is included and absolutely wonderful! There are nice short walks/hikes from the hotel but only one other hotel/restaurant (Ladera) close by. The hotel offers an array of tours or excursions which they arrange all the details for. The staff is wonderful, helpful and kind (especially Judy- my personal favorite!!). The beach is a car and boat ride away (only about 20-25 mins total) which the hotel offers free of charge and is a nice touch. There is zip lining, volcano viewing, mud bath and sulphur springs, and hiking all within 5-10 minutes from the hotel. St. Lucia has beautiful topography and windy roads making travel by car slightly more challenging. We suggest using taxis and the hotel for suggestions and arrangements. Our stay was beautiful, tranquil, and delightful! We would love to make it back soon! Hotel Chocolat does a fantastic job!!

Fantastic hotel for folks looking to relax

Posted Mar 7, 2018
The Hotel Chocolat was the perfect spot for the relaxing vacation we needed. Secluded, high end, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant Boucan was excellent - the complimentary breakfast was a highlight of our day! We also appreciated the complimentary filtered water and afternoon snacks by the pool. If you are looking for a packed-filled vacation, this hotel may not be for you. There is a free shuttle to a beach but it is part of another resort, which charges you for access to the beach and chairs. There is no gym onsite and the pool is small - but there are roads around the hotel for walking (including one that brings you to the nearby volcano) and we hardly saw anyone using the pool. We liked the guided cocoa tour. On-site massages are available. We were pleasantly surprised by the relatively bug-free environment, considering the room is not “sealed off” but fairly open. Things would probably be worse during the rainy season. We tried to visit Soufrière one day but there was little to see or do, but there are good restaurants nearby. Recommend for folks looking to read a good book pool-side with a breathtaking view of the Pitons but folks looking for more action may want to pick a bigger resort north of the island. Would not recommend for children or people using a wheelchair as the area is very hilly.

Wonderful holiday in stunning rain forest setting.

We had a great time. The property was beautiful and the staff was excellent (especially Judy). The breakfasts were excellent, as well as the several dinners we had. As a same sex couple, we did not know what to expect in St Lucia due to the status of such relationships under the law. We were pleased to feel welcome throughout the island particularly at this hotel. Thank you so much for the amazing experience and memorable trip.
