Romantic get sway

Posted Feb 15, 2018
Pros: Setting, ambience, great food and good staff.
Cons: Sort out the noise from the waste disposal units under the rooms.
Location: Hotel has a shuttle to nearby Sugar Beach. Beach there is spectacular. Also close to Pitons, nature trails etc.
Stayed for one night for Valentines. Hotel lovely, beautiful vista from room towards Pitons. Rooms are wooden “shed like” structures and open to the elements, but the mosquitoes net around the bed was fine. The whole ambience created in the grounds, and round the pool very nice. Very romantic location. Also food was superb and staff very good. Road noise and a very noisy waste disposal pump every time a loo was flushed (either in our room or next door) was somewhat annoying. Ear plugs are provided but noise an issue for us. Took the edge off an otherwise lovely night away.

Boutique Hotel experience

Posted Feb 10, 2018
Pros: The restaurant is exceptional - breakfast is a great value and will keep you full all day. Staff are helpful and courteous. Rooms are amazing.
Cons: More than 2 time options for shuttle to and from Sugar beach. Provide portable beach chairs on boat to avoid $50USD cost of loungers at beach.
Location: Ideal location for visiting most St. Lucia sights - sulfur volcano, mud/mineral baths, zip lining, hiking, waterfalls, beaches. Soufriere is closeby.
This is a great hotel if you like small spa-like experiences. There are only about 20 units - go for the luxe lodge style as it has an amazing deck/view and awesome “outdoor” shower. It’s a great place if you like active vacations. It’s not for you if you want to lie around the pool or beach all day and be served drinks. There’s no AC in the room but there’s a good breeze, excellent ventilation, ceiling fan and mosquito net on the bed - we slept with the duvet and the doors wide open to wake up to the awesome view. It’s in the middle of a rainforest/cacao plantation with great views of the local mountains (Pitons). No ocean view or readily accessible beach. Nice infinity pool with plenty of comfy loungers and shade - usually no more than 2-3 couples around the pool. Lots of free snacks and water - honour system for drinks in the fridge. Easy to order food and drinks via poolside phone. Have sunset drinks at Ladera resort across the road which also has a fine restaurant. Not suitable for families/children.

Highly recommend for bird lovers

Posted Jan 25, 2018
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in January. The cottage was Caribbean style and was comfortable. Various birds visited our room during our stay and we enjoyed observing them. We participated the “tree to bean” and “bean to bar” program as well as sunset cruise. They were both enjoyable and lots of fun. Staff were friendly and helpful. The view of Piton from the restaurant was breathtaking! Food was excellent. If you love birds, this is the place to stay. We encountered three hammingbirds in the hotel property. We would like to come back again.

Great Birthday Vaca!!

Posted Jan 11, 2018
I brought my 2 daughters here for a 5 day 4 night stay. It was divine! The suite/hut was luxurious and spacious. The food was amazing, rich and thoroughly cocoa in every bite! I would recommend an all inclusive option or at least a drink package because it was so expensive and you have to try everything. The pool is gorgeous but very cold, would've enjoyed it more if it were heated or a hot tub. Chocolate tour was terrific as were the excursions on sunset cruise, volcano visit, hot lava bath and snorkelling. You MUST try the chocolate wrap at the spa!!! The staff are all very kind and hospitable and we miss them already. I would recommend this more for a couple or relaxation rather than a "fun" Vaca per se but loved it none the less.

Beautiful boutique hotel in the rainforest

Posted Dec 5, 2017
Pros: The breakfast is amazing. Pool views can't be beaten and easy shuttle to the beach twice a day. Truffles in your room.
Cons: The concierge staff was good, not great. All nice & efficient. Not overly thrilled to help us book excursions or explain the lay of the land.
Location: Located up in the hills. The hotel is great about providing transport. Walk to the Volcano and Mud Baths, across the street from Ladera.
We chose to stay at Hotel Chocolat because of the beautiful Piton view and the well-reviewed restaurant, both of which did not disappoint. Room- The room was nice, but we were in lodge 2, which probably had the least desirable view on the property, but was close to the restaurant/concierge. Room was a good size and very comfortable. The mosquito netting kept us safe from bugs. The hotel also provided bug spray. The ceiling, floor fan and breeze kept us cool at night. The semi-outdoor shower was amazing and the towels were very soft. Hotel also provided water, truffles and little cocoa nib cookies each day, which was very much appreciated Food- Breakfast was incredible. Dinner is expensive but very good, but cheaper than going elsewhere and paying for taxi each way. Definitely don't bother with Ladera's Dasheene across the street-- it was TERRIBLE. Tours-We arranged all of our excursions through the hotel, which was great. It felt kind of weird being shuttled around, but it sure made it easy. We did the snorkeling, Gros Piton, Bean to Bar, and Sunset Cruise. All were worth it. Pool- Amazing place to lounge in or out of the sun with pool snacks provided and an honesty bar stocked with soda and beer. Beach- Easy shuttle from hotel to Soufriere to boat. A fun way to travel! Guests of HC are permitted to use the free chairs to the left of the jetty, which we were able to get each time we went, and there was some shade. Great snorkeling right off the beach.

Amazing hideaway with a view of Petit Piton

Posted Nov 25, 2017
We arrived just as the sunset and were given complimentary drinks prior to being escorted to our cabin. The accommodations are charming and unique, giving a great opportunity to “unplug” from the world. With that said, there is access to internet and we had no problem connecting. Our cabin had fresh towels and linens daily along with water, truffles, and cookies. Other snacks were complimentary too. (The complimentary rum was pretty phenomenal too.) Dinner was well worth it. We are vegetarians and, while the menu was limited for us, it was absolutely delicious. Dessert is a must! We aren’t ones for tours but the plantation tour and chocolate making was educational and lots of fun. The nursery supervisor is a cacao genius...seriously. We got to graft our our cacao tree which will be planted on the plantation. It may have been a joke but we might get some free chocolate from it... The spa was well worth every cent...very reasonably priced, and Agnes is simply amazing! Overall, we had great experience. If you’re into a party scene with extra modern accommodations, stay else. This place is classy and full of character. very quiet in the evenings, except for the sounds of nature surrounding you.
