“This hotel is in a very old Tudor style building with heaps of charm and quirkiness. This is a popular and busy pub/restaurant/hotel. Our room was on the top floor with access by stairs with high risers. The double bedroom was small with only one bedside table and no cupboards and only one stool so it is best suited to a one night stay. The room was clean and tidy with again the charm of an uneven floor which is not a problem just be aware. As the room is close to the roof it can get very warm……
“The main Hall is beautiful, well preserved and awe-inspiring.
The staff could not have been more helpful especially Naila in reception who went far beyond her job description.
The location of the breakfast server in the extensive new block was a bonus.”
“Excellent stay at this lovely hotel. The bedroom was very clean. Staff are very pleasant and made our stay very enjoyable. The meal we had was top notch and couldn't fault any of it. Breakfast the following morning was also very enjoyable, served piping hot and delicious. There is ample free parking on site too which is a great bonus with the hotel being on the high street. We would highly recommend the Red Lion and wouldn't hesitate to return!”
“The didn't reserved the room to me even I'd fully paid & confirmed by Hotels.com. The receptist is very impolite and just asked me to go to anther hotel which need 15 min driving time.”
“Serenity and peace. Nature and Country side beauty. Proximity to other amenities yet isolated from it all. Ideal for writers and those who want peace and quiet.”
“What a gem! Met up there for an overnight stay with friends. Great location and ideally situated for walking.
Our rooms were in the main building. They were spacious and well-equipped with tea/coffee making, proper milk and snacks. The beds were also very comfy and the en suite had a great shower.
We ate there for lunch and dinner- good menu and excellent, tasty options, with great selection of gins and wine. However what really made our stay, and will guarantee a return visit, was the warm……
“Staff very friendly, helpful and attentive.
Quaint Victorian surroundings created the feel of a bygone aristocratic era.
Minutes from train station and local shops & amenities.
I felt safe and confident as a solo female traveler.
Excellent value for money.”
