We arrived by car to a pitch black house with no one"home" and no way to get inside. By pure luck, a young Chinese girl arrived and had a cell phone, but she did not understand English. She found a phone # on the door and handed me the phone. I talked to the owner who said he could not possibly come because he was 30 km away. H gave me a code for a little box outside that had a room key for me. He also gave me a code for Ming's box, so I was able to get both our keys and enter the dark house, phone still in hand. The owner said if we moved around, lights would come on automatically. That worked eventually. Ming was hungry & was going to walk to town to find a restaurant, but not knowing the area, and seeing nothing close by but darkness, we invited her to share our picnic in our stark but adequate room. The owner & a helper were there by 8: am. Breakfast in small kitchen OK. When we went to check out, it was cash only. The website said nothing about this. I explained Americans are used to oaying with credit cards and he said I wasnt in America - no, really? I suggested he include the cash technicality in his website, paid about 1 Euro short, and chalked it up to experience.
