I expected more from 4 star

Posted Jan 25, 2016
Not much else to say really. I work away most weeks and use a variety of chain hotels, PH being one of them and this property just did not match up. Front desk staff were great but unfortunately my room was substandard. It needed updating, I had an old style TV with only 5 channels, the hair dryer was held together by tape and although I had two ironing boards I had no iron. The room needed a good clean, I had a used tissue behind my headboard and there was a fair amount of dust and spider webs. There were also areas that needed maintenance; missing curtain in the bathroom, broken trunking, damaged bath shower curtain rail to name a few. Food was very nice although I did wait over 20 minutes to place my order, I was dinning alone and the restaurant was far from busy. All in all not impressed. Id like to add photos but can work out how...?

Hôtel décevant

Posted Jan 13, 2016

Tired hotel

Pros: Parking is good. Breakfast, and bar food. Location.
Cons: The hotel rooms, old televisions . Room was very cold
Location: Ideal for us visiting relatives.
The hotel room was very cold, rooms are very tired. It's the location that useful for us visiting relatives. Breakfast was very good, and the food in the bar.

Pros: We liked the facilties and attentive staff.
Cons: The heating was a big problem and the staff admitted that they had problems with it.
Location: The Hotel has its own gold course for those interested in playing. The hotel is well situated for central Croydon (shopping, clubs, theatre etc.)
We were in Croydon for special birthday celebration and chose this hotel for bed and breakfast. On arrival, this is a very impressive looking hotel and it has held some high profile events in the past and it seemed to have great facilties however it is now a bit 'tired' and could do with some upgrading. Our room was lovely and large with a bay window overlooking the grounds and golf course. However, we discovered that the heating did not work and the shower curtain was missing. On complaining, the staff were extremely attentive and responded immediately to all our concerns and fixed most problems. There is a well equipped spa with free use for hotel guests - and again, things didn't quite work as they should have plus the changing rooms were a bit 'tired'. The breakfast was excellent with a great range of food although not as hot as it should have been! Overall we loved our stay and would go again as it was excellent value with good facilties.

Seldden park hotel

It's convenient for I want to do. The receptionist was more interested in taking my money than listening what my requirements were. I asked to book dinner for my wife and I but this was not done. Poor

Great hotel

Posted Dec 20, 2015
Pros: it was clean and very friendly
Cons: new TV's would help
I had a really good time I thought the hotel was really nice and clean, all the staff were very friendly the only thing that I was disappointed with was that the TV in our room was an old TV (I would guess at least 10 years) and the picture quality was terrible. I would definetly recommend this hotel to other people.

Cons: There are many things that need improving, the staffing, the décor, the cleanliness, to name but three.
Location: Good location, a cab into Croydon cost us £7
Very disappointed with this hotel now. Not enough staff, although the hotel is undergoing renovation the room we were allocated was dirty and small and was poor quality for the price we paid. I would not choose this hotel again.

Visiting family

Posted Nov 25, 2015
I have stayed here many times due to the proximity to family. Very little changes over time, which is both the appeal and the draw back. The hotel, while looking grand from the outside, is desperately in need of some renovations. Furnishings in the rooms are old and outdated. Windows that don't open. Hallways that are like saunas. TV choices circa 1992. Exorbitant prices in the Tempus Bar. However the food is v good, the buffet breakfast excellent, the staff friendly, the grounds beautiful and the rooms rather charming in their own way. the location is also very peaceful as the hotel is set a good 1/2 mile back from the main road. I will stay again for sure.
