"Nice hotel close to tubes"
Good location, small room, helpful staff. Did not eat at hotel so cannot speak to food or pricing. Beds had little support. Major concern was black mold on bathroom ceiling.

The Kensington Hotel

I booked the hotel for a 2-night stay to combine business with an opportunity to spend time in London with my wife. Location was nice and we walked back to the hotel from Theatre-land on the Sunday night. The Superior Double Room was nothing special though the bed was comfortable, little storage space which makes me wonder what the regular double room was like. The road is quiet and there was no traffic noise. Returning to the room on Monday evening it was disappointing the room had not been serviced so a quick turnaround to get changed wasn't as nice as we had hoped, especially since all the tea and milk had been consumed that morning. It was all done by the time we returned that evening. Breakfast is more complicated than it needs to be, the service was bordering on obsequious when all you want is a cooked breakfast and a coffee. What's the point of asking how runny you'd like the yolk and white of a poached egg to be, when you get one egg very runny and the other one almost hard boiled? It's not a major drama but why invite these comments in the first place? The breakfast room is beautifully laid out though the open fires were too much and uncomfortable to sit close to. The problem was the tables which were vacated away from the fires were slow to be cleared and re-laid which meant there were 5 people waiting to be seated for breakfast, waiting in an area close to another open fire. It would look great in December, but not in mid September following a heatwave.

"Great hotel close to underground "
Just returned from an 8 day stay at this hotel and would recommend it to all. The location is great on a quiet street 1/2 bloom away from the London Underground Glouscster Road station making it e theme you easy to get around throughout London. Lots of varied restaurants nearby. The room ( a standard double twin) was large foe London standards with a good sized bathroom and comfortable beds. It easily accommodated 2 travellers and was kept very clean. Staff were always very friendly, polite and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel to all

"Gorgeous boutique hotel"
This hotel has been around for a good few years and I always meant to stay. A short trip to London became a perfect excuse and i booked into one of the single rooms, mine the contemporary on the 2nd floor. The room was compact, but perfect for one. Its an old victorian terrace, so dont expect a multimedia console at your bedside. My only minor grip was lack of sockets, so my phone ended up hanging out one at the room door. Food, staff, location and bar all amazing, Attentive yet discrete.

"nice spacious apartment in central london"
A good alternative to a hotel during your stay in London. More spacious than what most hotel rooms would offer. Short walking distance to the tube. Close to Harrods, Knightsbridge. Seems a little understaffed after-hours with one guy who functions as receptionist, room service, concierge, maintenance, porter, you name it!

"Fantastic boutique hotel "
My husband and I stayed in the Ampersand for three nights before moving on to Paris. Upon arriving after a long flight from Denver, the staff was incredibly friendly and took us up to our room and carefully went over all of the amenities. The mini bar was filled daily with complimentary beverages and the coffee/tea bar was also well stocked. In the bathroom were lush bathrobes and slippers as well as toiletries, loofahs, makeup remover towelettes, and all of the other basics that most hotels stock. There was also an adorable rubber duck chilling out on the edge of the bathtub. The tub was not standard as I was expecting, but was actually pretty deep for soaking and the rain showerhead was lovely. We didn't get a room with a view, unfortunately but we didn't request one either. After staying at the Ampersand, our boutique hotel experience in Paris was a pretty big I think it's safe to say that they set the bar high here. I only wish we had stayed longer so we could have enjoyed a tea service or a meal at the restaurant. We will definitely stay here again when we return to London.

"It all depends on the room you get"
This is a quirky hotel. Formerly the Regency it has now been made a Hilton and the improvement in staff training and service is striking. We got a bad room on arrival and they went out of their way (at midnight) to solve the problem. Throughout our stay there we found them to be excellent. I say I would recommend this hotel but only with the warning that everything will depend on the room you get. They vary in size, quality and location to a huge degree. If you are flexible on those sorts of things and want a good location and good service this is for you. If you want predictability it might not be. The staff can only do so much--especially when things are full.
