Front office staff was great. I could tell they were trying to make improvements from my last stay 2 years ago. Although the door could have easily been kicked in by the gap inside. (Husband is in construction). Coming from a very rural area I felt a little uncomfortable with the walking traffic through the parking lot. We had our dogs so I wasn't worried too much. Before going out to dinner the resident next to us asked if he gave us $100 if we would go get an Amazon card for him. We immediately declined as that seems to be a scam of sorts. Kinda sketchy.

we apologize about the guest next door.. we have told him a few times about bothering the guests. We have been very stern about keeping the traffic through our front parking area to a minimum. As for the door, it was just replaced and has no gaps from the inside.. the weather stripping kept it a little tight from the door frame. we apologize for any uncomforting you might have experienced.. thank you for the review

The staff was amazing in that they stayed available an hour and a half beyond their office closing hour to check my sister and I in. We had been car camping for the last 4 days so we’re really looking g forward to a shower and warm, comfy bed. The shower looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. There was hair, a layer of dirt and a bug inside of it. Neither of us felt comfortable using it without shoes on. There was also hair scattered throughout the bathroom and the floors felt like they also hadn’t been cleaned in a while. It was nice to sleep inside and the location was convenient, although noisy, but it was definitely a “you get what you pay for” hotel.

I am very sorry to hear your stay was unsatisfactory. I wish you would have said something to us while you were here for the two days. We would have changed your room or come out immediately to clean to make the stay more comfortable. I know all the rooms get inspected after they are cleaned so I am not sure how we missed all the problems. I will be making my housekeepers aware of the complaint and as the managers will be triple-checking rooms to make sure this doesn't happen again. Again I apologize for the dirty bath and room

This visit was far better than my previous visit where the staff was not very nice and drug dealers were operating out of a few rooms. This visit found new managers to be pretty cool and very accommodating. The price was great even though it is a budget motel. The only complaint I have is being charged by the night for a pet but they do not clean rooms during the stay so a one-time fee would be more appropriate.

I had one very slight problem and that was it was a bit chilly in our room...we didn't have a heater.

we apologize for the heater problem, we do have extra heaters and blankets in case u needed them. we are trying to improve the heaters in the room to central heating and air.. so hopefully your next stay will be alot warmer.

We stay here often, always have a nice stay. Only complaint this time is the room we got the bed was worn, lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. Not only did I but so did my oldest wake repeatedly with pain from it

Old motel needs a facelift
This motel needs an overhaul. It is quite old; the bottom of the bathroom door was all peeling (possible water damage?), the metal cabinet below the bathroom mirror was corroded and had no sliding door anymore, the light plug behind the bed didn't work well, there were bashed-in corners of the walls and coving, there were bathtub chips & marks. The desk staff was quite friendly, and the bed was comfy.

The room was very small. TV does not work and shower from next room can be heard from our room. Very, very noisy, couldn’t get any sleep.

All of our king rooms are the same size.. so spaciousness is not something we can change for that type of room.. during your 4-day stay we were not aware of the TV.. when TV turns on it is set to default. source needed changed to HDMI. we appreciate your business and hope you will stay with us again

Have realistic expectations!
It served it's purpose as a budget-friendly motel. The room had everything I needed for a one-night stay. Wasn't expecting 5-star accommodations or amenities, so I wasn't disappointed. The front desk was friendly and room was clean.

You are correct updates are needed and we are currently in the process of working on these updates. I am refurbishing the tubs and showers, putting new sinks and mirrors in the bathrooms, updating the furniture, painting the entire room, and fixing damage to walls and baseboards. We are also getting a new tv provider who will be installing their equipment in the next week. Then looking at larger TV for each room. I hope if ever back in Brookings you stop and stay again

Great place to stay, only real complaint was the door to the room did not have great weather-sealing and caused it to be a little bit chilly on a December night. Front desk was very helpful and polite, Josh was extremely helpful.

Great place to stay in Brookings
I enjoyed my stay, the room was basic and clean. I was a little cold in the early morning. The people working there were very welcoming and helpful. The value was excellent! The location on the highway was convenient, especially because I did not feel bothered by the traffic noise when I was in the room.

Property seemed good. The only bad thing--no chairs in the room. When you get old and inflexible, putting on socks helps when there is less distance to reach.

Convenient location. You get what you pay for. Walked into our room and ran right into a spider web. Killed multiple spiders, a couple earwigs, and some other flying bugs. Towels were stained. Room was old and wear and tare was evident.

We’ve stayed at Blue Coast 3 times now. It’s definitely a budget motel but the staff is nice and the rooms are decent. No frills but close to the beaches and even an ocean view to wake up to.

Sorry you felt the parking lot was small. This motel was built in the 50's and unfortunately there is not much we can do to improve the space for parking
