Pros: Sorry nothing
Cons: Needs a complete overall with cleanliness and paintwork decor etc.
Location: Nothing much to say
Place needs a look of work done on it lots of damp and dust everywhere. Had a double room on ground floor and when we went to bed the metal bed collapsed. The owner then shipped myself over the room to another house and that was even worst!!! Bathroom had used I would not keep chickens in it! Husband stay in original room because of our elderly dog cannot use stairs. Worst weekend ever!!!

Snail trails in the dining room!

Pros: Leaving!!!!! The garden was lovely- wild and full of birds.
Cons: Everything could and should be improved.
Location: Nether Edge Sheffield is an interesting area- with a great café- Café #9. It's a leafy suburb of Sheffield- but also near good pubs ( The Broadfield).
The owner was charming and did his best to be helpful. The trouble is that the house ( which could be beautiful) is in a terrible state of neglect. The entrance hall to be frank is like something from the Addams family- gloomy, dark, damp, dingy. The dining room- which could be a lovely lounge- is damp, cold, with loads of snail trails under the dining table!! I was travelling alone and going into my room was like entering a cell! The room itself was ok- clean, with a TV and with a reasonable ensuite- but things were generally in a state of disrepair eg the toilet roll holder was falling off the wall. One of the worst things was that there is no-one around most of the time- and to be on your own in this gloomy house on a wet winter's night is not a fun experience.!! The owners need to spend some money on the place- and up their game!!!

Hidden gem for an overnight stay in Sheffield

Location: Good bus service to city centre. Good local pubs (Broadfield, White Lion, Sheaf View, Brothers Arms) and excellent beer shop/tap room (Hop Hideout).
Very picturesque old building tucked away on the south side of Sheffield. Located in a quiet residential area - made for an excellent night's sleep. Room quite small but clean and equipped with everything I needed for my overnight stay - excellent shower. Owner very friendly and helpful - rang me in advance to see when I would be checking in, and gave me detailed directions to local concert venue when he heard I was down for a concert. Very relaxed atmosphere - check out when you want etc. Breakfast excellent - buffet then a 'Full English' cooked to order. Dining room very nice - like staying in someone's home. Overall, very good value for money, would definitely use the Briary again.

Cheap and convenient

Pros: It suited our needs as it was fairly close to the hospital, and there was free off street parking.
Cons: The uncomfortable bed and the decor
Location: Fairly central and close to eateries
Convenient and cheap. Very dated and tired. Really more of a B and B than a hotel. Double bed very uncomfortable. Host very pleasant and helpful.

Pros: Homely.
Cons: The decor could benefit with a little updating and we felt the garden would benefit with a good overhaul.
Location: Not required as we are visiting relatives nearby.
The welcome was friendly and the room was quite adequate for our requirements. Breakfast was served at our chosen time and the food was prepared to our needs. The conversation with Sal was also very pleasing and he was also very helpful in directing us to good food outlets for our evening meal.

Pros: friendliness. cosy rooms. nice atmosphere.
Cons: the house has 'character' which may not be appreciated by everyone.
Location: just about two miles from city centre. we went for the snooker. found lots of restuarants to use and took a short train ride to meadow hall.
got a phone call day before arrival to be asked what time we were to be expected and just to ring if we were going to be held up by the owner. which was nice to know. having arrived, we were shown to our room, room keys and t.v explained to us. we were asked what kind of breakfast we would like in the morning, (veggie, english breakie or continental) The bed was unbelievably comfy the room was warm. the owner is very welcoming, i would recommend this guest house and use it again in the future.
