Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda Beach Resort

Our Stay at the Fairmont Southampton hotel had some good moments and some not so good. The hotel is in a nice location and it has many amenities to enjoy the stay. The restaurants are pretty good (Waterlot is fantastic), the Spa was great (although Hot sauna and one shower didn't work) and the staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. The resort itself however seemed old and outdated (our bathroom shower and the balcony were part rusty) and there were lots of additional fees (daily room gratuity, in room water $10).

I think I expected more from a hotel rated 4 stars on most review sites. I definitely wouldn’t give it more than 3. While the hotel itself was beautiful and decorated beautifully for the holidays, it lacked in multiple areas. The food was average and nothing I had was super delicious. I found a lot of the food to be bland save for the sauces. Meats and fish tasted like they weren’t seasoned. The room needed a face lift. In the shower the knob was missing a piece and the screw was exposed. The light in the shower didn’t come on. Also, the area behind the sink appeared to need to be re grouted. When opening the draw to retrieve the ice bucket from the entertainment center I was greeted by 2 cockroaches. I understand islands have bugs but this could be a cleanliness issue although the room appeared clean. Every interaction with a staff member was fine but nothing note worthy. I will say that the 2 women who ran Bingo were very enthusiastic and made it a good time. I would probably try a different hotel if visiting Bermuda again in the future.

Lots of things to do, great restaurants. Could use updating.
