Amenities and service level

The hotel has excellent amenities from restaurants to shuttle service to the bus stop and beach. The room we stayed in was very nice, however, a sink did not drain, but was fixed after two calls. Wifi was an extra cost and should have been free. Also be aware of the extra fees tacked on to the room cost. These averaged almost $100 per night. Otherwise the hotel was very nice, clean and the service was excellent.

Superb stay!

Fairmont Southampton was an amazing experience. From the cleanliness of the hotel and property, to the dedication of the staff, and the comfort of our bed this hotel was top notch! It definitely exceeded my expectations on all levels!

Beautiful location on beautiful Bermuda

I was in Bermuda for a very short visit of 2 nights. I enjoyed all that is offered at the hotel including the new restaurant/bar Jasmine. My room was lovely but I didn't have much of a view though that was my choice as I made the reservations very late. Very busy hotel - lots of young couples, pregnant women and small children which id fine by me. Accommodations are very comfortable and the bath was almost luxurious. Great bath products! Beach was super as was the trolley service to it. Nice but too short a visit this time.

Great hotel for kids

My husband and I stayed with our 22 month old and had the best time. Everything is so kid friendly (restaurants, pool, toddler room, etc. ) biggest downfall was the cost of the food onsite. It was expensive.

Excellent hotel!!

We just stayed at the Fairmont for 4 nights in September with our two kids (2 year old and 9 month old) . The rooms was plenty big for us and two cribs. Plus the staff was more than accommodating, they gave us an extra fridge and a microwave which made it much easier with the two little ones. The beach area was beautiful and the shuttle service was easy and quick. The staff was so friendly and the concierge desk was so helpful (I think I asked them questions at least twice daily). Would definitely recommend and hope to stay there again.

Great property

Pros: Grounds
Cons: Air could have been cooler.
Location: Beach, dining, par 3 golf course looked lovely, lighthouse, and ferry to Hamilton.
Beautiful property and very easy to get around with shuttles to beach and ferry. Local people are very nice and very willing to talk about their Island. Just beware it is very expensive in Bermuda.

Good hotel but not quite a 5 star hotel

Pros: Nice pool and good housekeeping services.
Cons: More foot paths to the various locations around the hotel. It would have been nice to walk to places rather than have to take the shuttle bus.
Location: Gibbs lighthouse is a short walk away and a must see.
This hotel had all the promise of an amazing place and the photography and online materials sure showed that it had that potential. However the experience of it was just missing the final bit of detail that I would have looked for in a 5 star hotel. Let me say that overall our family very much enjoyed our stay, so the points I'm raising are the details which I think make a 5 star rating for a hotel. First off was calling on the phone to the various departments sometimes took too long to answer and in a few cases we even had to put the phone down as no one was answering. The room showers weren't up to standard for a 5 star hotel. Apparently they had all been renovated recently, however they must have not been to see other new 5 star hotels and the showering facilities which is more modern and far more superior in other 5 star hotels, especially those in the far east. The shower was dated and weak. I've travelled to many places around the world and truly their bathrooms were not up to standard. It was a 4 star bathroom. As a family resort, there were also other vital facilities lacking. As a young travelling family, one of the facilities we would ideally like to see in all locations is baby changing facilities. Unfortunately there were none in the private beach location. Furthermore, we found the private beach to be extremely crowded. As for dining, on the whole it was ok, but the poor experience we had at The Ocean Club wasn't something we cared to repeat.

They have fully embraced beautiful Bermuda

IMO, Bermuda, by itself, is a standout when considering places like Aruba, Bahamas, Mexico -- even Hawaii. Part of what makes it so wonderful is The Fairmont Southampton. It's quiet. It's old world. It's friendly. It's pink! We felt very at home while there for two weeks. We visited its former sister property and felt like TFS had so much more character and charm. It also has its own beach RIGHT next to another, larger, public beach -- Horseshoe -- which is recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is quiet and mellow at the end of the day when the cruise people have left for the ships. Each day we were exposed to a little more of the TFS. We did not think the indoor pool would be that beautiful. It was. The gym was A1. Ice towels + ice water. Go late at night and have it all to yourself. Staff was friendly. It didn't feel like they were playing a role. They were nice people into you relaxing. If TFS decides to update it's shared area, my advice would be to retain the hardwood staircases, eclectic furniture and creative use of color and wallpaper. That's what gives you the edge over the minimalistic former-sister property. There's always another side and that is although the food was great it was unbelievably expensive. Prepare to pay for a small vacation at the end of your regular vacation if you take advantage of the many restaurants and breakfast buffet (outstanding). In other words, plan ahead. It's worth it. We'll be back.
