Southern Pines Hotel

Great location and staff. My first room on the ground floor had a spot lite shining in; too bright to sleep and black out curtains did not close (just framed the window). I moved to another room and no apparent outdoor light, but after a closer look, found the light was actually burning out; not a problem due to that, but otherwise, would have had a spot light shining in my room again and no way to block the light (not exaggerating...very bright light right outside the window.). Found a HUGE, hairy black spider hanging out. Had to kill it. Not nice. Vanity is SO dark; very irritating as you cannot see well to apply makeup. Why can't these hotels use light bulbs that actually put out light. I am all for energy conservation stuff, but really. Might as well be in a cave as the light in the rest of the room was very low as well. I hope this trend will reverse itself. Do dim lights REALLY save on costs for a hotel? Also, this room had a fridge that buzzed and rattled.
