Cracking Location

Posted Aug 29, 2017
The hotel is in an ideal location for a few attractions. It is approx. 10 minute walk to either the Spanish Steps or the Trevi Fountain. Could walk to the Colosseum in approx. 30 minutes. The hotel is also very handy for shopping. The room came complete with a mini fridge which came in handy as it was rather hot when we stayed. There was also a digital safe which was good to have. The only negative thing I have to say about our stay was the bed in the hotel room. We had two single beds pushed together, the mattresses were quite hard and pillows were also thin so it wasn't a comfortable sleep

Location great but access difficult

Posted May 28, 2017
Easy to walk to major sites. Room access hidden and requires carrying luggage up different levels and stairs. Only one person and bag per elevator. Not well lit access.

Couldn't ask for better location ! 5 mins walk from trevi fountain and Spanish steps . Actually didn't use any transport whole 4 days there even from train station 25 mins walk) . Staff very friendly and there 24/7 . Only niggle struggled to get hot water for shower . But location more than made up for it

A jewel

Posted Nov 14, 2016
Pros: Location, design, friendliness of staff, overall ambiance
Location: The hotel is located in the heart of the historical Rome; Piazza di Spagna, Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo De'Fiori are all close by
I stayed in Residenza Montecitorio for three nights in November 2016. It is truly a jewel in the heart of Rome. In fact it doesn't feel like a hotel at all - entering the property you get an impression that you are in a private apartment, and there just happens to be a receptionist sitting in the vestibule (probably it was a very large apartment once, later subdivided into separate rooms). The room I stayed in was designed with great attention to detail, with red satin upholstery on the walls, comfortable leather arm chair, natural wood furniture, and baroque paintings on the wall - it had a bit dated, yet profoundly authentic feel; in fact, stepping out on the street and coming back after the whole day of wandering the streets of Rome, there was a continuity of experience, in the sense that the hotel and the room itself are a part of the overall Roman environment and belong here much more than many other places with more modern design would. The staff at the front desk is very friendly, eager to help, and speaks good English. The location is excellent - 5 minute walk from the Spagna metro station, and close to Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Campo De'Fiori and other tourist attractions. One word of caution: don't look for a big street sign - there is none. Look for the seemingly anonymous doorway between two columns on the facade that faces Via Della Mercede, and for the button that would connect you to the hotel front desk on the panel next to the door. Enjoy!

Room and bathroom are small but the service was friendly and good, clean, and location near the Spanish Steps is ideal.

The hotel was nicely located in the middle of Rome and the room was comfortable and nicely sized. However the bathroom smelled weird and it was a bit confusing to find reception. Better entry signage would greatly help.
