Outdated hotel

Posted Oct 10, 2017
Pros: Clean towels and linen. Pool and hot tub to ourselves. Quiet atmosphere but only 3 vehicles in the lot.
Cons: Update carpet, furniture, bathrooms. Clean mold in bathroom. Fix deadbolt.
Location: Beautiful fall foliage. Nice town. Hiking, fishing, biking, ATV trails, snowmobile trails.
We booked a suite. There were 2entrances to the room-one door's deadbolt did not work. The bedroom did not have an outlet between the beds, which was inconvenient for recharging our phones and using them for alarms. Mismatched furniture in poor shape through the the suite. Mold in toilet and shower. Head of bed carpeting needed vacuuming. Splatter of some type of spill on wall near bed.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

Posted Sep 9, 2017
I will go out of my way to tell people not to stay at this hotel. Our room was extremely dirty the tub was moldy the walls were mold in the bathroom and there were black hairs in our tub. When I asked the staff for a cleaner to clean the tub myself so I could take a shower they didn't give me cleaner but came down and cleaned it to themselves however moldy still gross scum everything would have come off with some Comet and a little elbow grease but it was nasty. The people gave me the excuse that they hired foreign exchange students to clean the rooms and that there was a language barrier but telling me that tells me that they were aware of the rooms being dirty and not doing anything about it. The carpets were so nasty you didn't dare go barefoot. I paid for my room through expedia.com two months before the event and was very much looking forward to the long weekend in the Hills. When I checked out of the hotel I spoke to the person behind the desk and told them okay I'm checking out no incidentals now my room is paid for already yep yep, and then they build me again for the last week I have been working with people trying to get my money back from one of the two areas either the hotel or Expedia without any success.

Great stop to access the Black Hills

Posted Sep 7, 2017
Pros: staff service
Cons: rooms are a bit dated but not terrible
Our family was on the way to the Black Hills for a Labor Day vacation, my wife, son (7), and daughters (5 and 4). We had a cabin for 2 nights but needed a place on short notice. This was a great find for a reasonable rate on the holiday weekend. We especially appreciated Kathy the front desk person and her friendly and personable service. Also, we had a good time in the pool and met some travels from the Minneapolis area and they were great with our kids.

Staff was not helpful or knowledgeable. Housekeeping didn't restock necessary items. Hot tub didn't work.

We apologize for the inconvenience. This building is under new management and we are trying our best to train our staff, including housekeepers about everything that is required for them to do everyday. Again we are really sorry.

Sturgis

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Pros: close to interstate to get where we wanted to go.
Cons: Better customer service.
Location: Spearfish canyon, cute little town about 14 minutes away..
We made our reservations September 2016. We booked a 6 night stay. Around April or May we get a call that the owner decided to up the rate on Friday night, to almost quadruple what our rate was. Wow, talk about greedy. It's not like he didn't know Sturgis Motorcycle Rally started on the 4th. Needless to say we were disappointed in his actions. So now we leave the day of the Rally, and miss the grand opening. Big Thank You to the owner for that.. Our room key needed rekeyed almost daily, what a hassle. Breakfast was the same everyday, no change. Internet wasn't fun connecting too either. Asked for our receipt and printer was down. Asked them to email it and after calling them for 4 days we finally received the receipt. I would say they need a good general manager that knows what customer service is all about. Will go back to Sturgis but not this hotel. Even Expedia (guarantee price) couldn't get the owner to honor our full reservation price.

We apologize for the inconvenience that the guest had during their stay. It's a standard that every year for bike rally the rates get increased. Every hotel does this in town so they is nothing new about it. This building is under new management and it will take time to fix certain things in the building that needs to be fixed. Once again we are really sorry and we hope you understand.

Run down hotel

Posted Aug 23, 2017
Our chain was missing on the door, light bulbs burnt out, no smoke dectector in bedroom, outside doors to buildings were open to the public they never locked. Breakfast food was always out early in the morning. The experience was terrible. I would not stay there again.

horrible hotel

Posted Aug 18, 2017
I spent 5 nights. They took my visa # after being paid thru Expedia & double booked me even though I had told them. Found out from other quests they had the same problem. I asked for a fridge, as mine had been removed. I asked them twice. It took them 3 days! & I came back late one night & the lights were on, & someone had used my washroom. Another guest told me someone had also been in their room. Apparently they had double booked, as my key card did not allow me entry. I had to get new cards twice! Security & identity theft here is outrageous! I wasted an entire morning & upset my wife back in Canada. Even the young men they had at the desk told me there was nothing but problems here. I have told all my biker friends @ Sturgis to stay away from this hotel. I will be forwarding a similar complaint to Baymont to let them know what is happening here & to consider pulling out as eventually it will give Baymont a bad review with travellers to Spearfish. I hope this gets to the people who make the decisions. Thank you for reading. Very, very disappointed.

We apologize for the inconvenience that you had here. We are trying to update and renovate the rooms and we have hired housekeepers from a different country. We trained them for 1 week, but because of language barrier they sometimes forget to do what they're suppose to do like what supplies needs to be put in the rooms and what needs to be removed. Also this building is under new management and we are working very hard to fulfill the needs for every guest. Sorry for the inconvenience. I hope this never happens again. Thanks.
