Very nice hotel and good location. Room was nice but we had to move the chair to see tv. It could have been placed in a better spot. The bedsheets did not fit so they rolled off mattress in middle of night.

Old and Tired plus Trains All Night Long

Pros: Location
Cons: Update your rooms and your check-in process.
Location: Excellent location for downtown Springfield.
The entire stay was not good. It started with a 20+ minute check-in because their computer system kept "locking-up", it took so long, they just gave me a key and did not take a credit card for incidentals. After check-in, I had to go back downstairs to get keys replaced. Once in the room, I found out that Mid-Century Modern means "old and tired". The furniture was old, there were some stains on the wall around the nightstand, the refrigerator and microwave were just sitting on one wall without fixtures and still had their yellow energy rating tags on them. The mattress was even worse. I had several people in my party and 3 out of 4 rooms fell in this grouping. I have to say the bathroom was in good shape. There is also a very busy train track a block away from the hotel and they blow their horns all night long. The location is good if you are doing business with the State as it is right next to the capital. I would not recommend this hotel.

I am extremely sorry to see that you were unsatisfied with most of your stay here with us! I completely understand the frustration with the noise from the trains that come though Springfield. I would love to have you stay in one of our more comfortable suites located facing the west to save you from that train noise. Also , I apologize for the delayed check-in , and understand how technology can be frustrating when it doesn't work. Please know that we value your feedback and will strive to make your next stay much better.

Weekend away from the kids

Second time staying here and the service was great!!! Had to use a pin to adjust room temperature and the toilet was broke but I fixed it. Our room was overall clean but not as clean as our first stay! The bathroom mirror was streaked pretty bad as well as the tv. We are smokers but our comforter had a burn mark on it when we pulled back the sheets . The breakfast was hot and the hostess was very friendly and kept the area very clean. 1-22-17 she should be acknowledged for her excellent work. I called to see if going through the hotel would be cheaper than Expedia and the woman whom I spoke with was very rude to the point I almost did not make our reservation. She told me I could not get my room for the amount I stated. that those prices were not available that my room was said amount. I have used Expedia several times and knew that she said was incorrect in her statements. She said do what you want but you will not get that price.needless to say I got that price. Very rude individual to be working in customer service for your hotel.. the state house is known for excellent customer service and she does not meet your standards.

Comfortable beds!

Cons: The heating system fan in our room was rather noisy and disturbed my husband's sleep, but not mine.
Location: Two blocks from the state capitol building and close to Lincoln Library, downtown, and train station.
I love staying at the State House Inn because of the great beds. They use thick mattress pads and high-thread=count sheets to make the bed cozy and inviting. Insider tip: ask for a good deal on one of the suites. The regular rooms are too small, but we got the suite for $95 on a Sunday night. Includes sitting room and refrigerator. The free breakfast in the morning is also good.

Convenient and spacious

Theme was supposed to be retro but it just seemed dated. Uncomfortable furniture in the suite, but very spacious. Average hotel overall, but the price is reasonable for what you get.

Close to many attractions, food. Free parking. Nice, clean, comfortable room and facilities. Good free Wi-Fi service.

Perfect Stay

I was having surgery on my right arm in Springfield so i stayed here to be close to my Doctor. never had stayed there before but will stay again everybody were friendly and helpful.anything i needed or asked for the staff helped me with even opening my water bottles.Thank,s Kevin Kellus
