Used Expedia - Got Room 207 with a Roaring A/C Fan
Posted Dec 8, 2016
We stayed at Castillo Real in April 2016 and it was wonderful stay. This time - NOT SO wonderful. We arrived late in the day and stayed in Room 207. This was a spontaneous trip to St. Augustine and we felt we could not go wrong with Castillo Real. We reserved a room through Expedia and saved $5.00 on our rate. We checked in and decided to grab a little dinner before turning in. When we returned, we went straight to bed and noticed the room was warm and turned the a/c down to 70 degrees. After a while the a/c fan kicked on and shook us out of bed with a LOUD ROAR. We could not even hear each other speak! It was a loud roar every time the fan turned on. All night long, every time the roaring fan turned on, it woke us up. Needless to say, "WE DID NOT SLEEP" and we had to travel the next day. We should have asked for another room, but we were tired and settled in. The TV cable had problems too. We checked out the next morning and told the lady at the desk of our problems in 207. She apologized and said she would like to give us a discount, but because we used Expedia, she could do nothing. The manager on duty called us the next day as we requested and she also apologized for our discomfort, but again there was nothing she could do because we used Expedia. She say they previously received a complaint with Room 107 with the same a/c problem and a/c man fixed it. She said she would have the fan checked and offered us a free upgrade the next time we come.
