Hotel close to our relatives in the area

Posted Nov 12, 2017
Pros: The management was excellent.
Cons: Nothing!
Location: It was conveinent for our vist with our relatives.
We chose this hotel due to its close proximity to out relatives so we could vist with them. We were given an excellent room on the second floor. We thought it would be OK until we thought of our one relative who is 92 years old and is handicapped. The second floor does not have accommodations for handicapped on the second floor. We asked the management if we could make a room change. They accommodated us in a heart beat with an excellent room on the first floor with handicapped facilities. Things could not have worked out better. By the way we had lunch in the Wigley grill. The food was great. With the exception of the winter snow fall during our vist we had a great time.

UNSUPERVISED KIDS RUINED MY STAY

Posted Nov 6, 2017
Pros: All the negativity (above) just ruined any niceties it may have had.
Cons: Your front desk needs to answer the phone at night. I called twice at 11 pm and go no assistance. I expect to get a person... not VOICE MAIL.
The unsupervised children running the halls, yelling and screaming both evenings up past 11 pm ruined my stay. I called down to the front desk for help (twice!) and rec'd no answer. Just put into voice mail. VOICE MAIL? Really? What if I was in trouble? VOICE MAIL? Hotels like this need to have STRICT RULES for unsupervised children and MONITOR their behaviour. Would it be out of line to walk the halls every once and while to see and hear what is happening? The room was okay but there is no sound insulation AT ALL. I finally got the kids in their rooms and then, oh gee, snoring from the next room! SIGH. So much money for so little service. In fact, I got no service. Just check in and check out. Also, the bathroom counter/sink is so low, I practically had to bend over double to spit in the sink. Weird. I won't stay here ever again. Ever.

We apologize for issues you experienced during your stay. We'd like to take this opportunity to ensure that we take all our guests satisfaction and feedback seriously. Typically 11pm is our shift change but there should be no reason why the phone was not answered. We are following up with our operations team to ensure noise disturbances are removed immediately. We hope to see you again and ensure this is an isolated incident.

Handy when visiting the Niagara Region

Posted Oct 21, 2017
Pros: The hotel is particularly convenient for visiting the Niagara Region. The hotel, while not new, was well kept and the service was excellent.
Cons: Many rooms were being renovated when we visited. As these become available this great hotel will be an even better place to stay.
Location: Less hectic than Niagara Falls, it’s a 15 minute drive to Niagara on the Lake, Niagara Falls, and wineries. Restaurants and services are all nearby.
We were visiting the Niagara Region and chose St. Catharines as the base for our visit. The hotel is about 15 minutes from Niagara on the Lake or Niagara Falls. Dozens of excellent wineries are also within 15 minutes of the hotel. We stayed at the hotel for three nights. Check-in was straight forward and the staff were knowledgeable and helpful. Parking was ample, free and convenient. The hotel was clean and well maintained but it is an older hotel and it could not escape looking a bit tired in places. We did notice that some rooms were under total renovation so it is evident that the hotel is investing in renewing itself. The breakfast room was convenient and roomy. Breakfast choices were typical and plentiful. Two things set this breakfast experience apart from other hotels. The staff were particularly helpful and efficient. Secondly, the hotel owner was present and made his way around tables each morning chatting with guests. His interaction with hotel staff made it clear that they all enjoyed working there and were dedicated to ensuring guests were well served. During our stay we dined at various restaurants in St. Catharines. This hotel had major chain restaurants across the street and other very good restaurants are within a five minute drive. Check out was quick and painless. Overall this was an excellent hotel for visiting the region and we recommend it strongly provided you can overlook the fact that it is an older hotel.

Handy location

Posted Oct 12, 2017
Close to the malls and easily accessible. Only complaint was our room was by the outside airconditioner which was noisy and unsightly. The balcony was beside the airconditioner and littered with cigarette butts.

This Best West Plus is older and it shows it but the staff were great. Also the beds and pillows were very comfortable.

Very loud!

Posted Sep 28, 2017
Cons: Some soundproofing in the walls.
Location: Near Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake, vineyards and wineries.
The walls between the rooms, and the doors adjoining rooms have no soundproofing at all. There are gaps around the doors between rooms such that you hear EVERYTHING in the next room. EVERYTHING. After 2 very disturbed nights of sleep we opted to just leave at 4pm rather than suffer another night. Hotel staff was kind, but acknowledged rooms can be noisy. They offered to move us to another room upstairs, but by that time we might as well leave as no reason to believe rooms would be any quieter. We had different people each of the nights, so it wasn't the individuals, just the noise level between rooms. Would never go there again or recommend. Hotel is outdated, which is not a huge issue.

Pros: See above.
Cons: Just be a little more improved with cleaness.
Location: See above #l
Chose it because it is not far from family. Also found out it is close to Niagara Falls. Stayed at the hotel previously. Very nice with two pools. Very nice breakfast buffet.

Nice hotel well situated.

Got an unfinished suite.....washroom was not completely renovated. It was situated at the end pf a corridor where furniture was stored. Otherwise it would have been ok.
