Like? Food, drinks,bar staff. That beach is a 10 BUT...hotel needs a lot of repairs ASAP. Lots of water damage on ceilings, corroded balcony railings 😱😱 scary.

I booked the hotel for one night after reading the reviews. My expectations were low. So, after seeing the property I wasn’t surprised or disappointed. If you’re used to all inclusive resorts with beautiful landscaping and entertainment, this is not even close. But, they don’t pretend to be. The front desk staff Faye was kind and helpful. The ferry to the boardwalk runs frequently and the ride is one minute or less. I stayed there because the location and price met a quick need. I wouldn’t stay again…unless it’s totally renovated.The locals love the beach. I didn’t get to experience the beach because it rained.

Realmente para mi gusto que es la playa estuvo superrr el hotel es antiguo pero el cuarto estaba muy limpio un poco incómodo el mattress buena vista facilidad de transporte barra excelente y BBQ bien no lo utilize pero mucha gente si … faltaría la opción comidas ( principalmente desayuno) en cuanto a lo demás muy bien para mi gusto

Poorly managed and maintained. Several areas there where no pathway lights. Shower never got hot. Ceiling had cracks, patio door could not use, broken floor tiles, in room safe was told not working. The location is great also love the private beach atmosphere. However current owner should sell to investors looking to bring to at least a 4 or 5 star hotel. Honestly a 2 star is being generous!

The great - The views, to be able to see both sunset and sunrise. The good - The Beach The Bad - There were sand flees crawling everywhere, the TV remote wasn’t in the room and when I notified staff they left one that didn’t work, also lost TV signal, Wi-Fi was unusable and AC unit although kept the room cool was extremely loud and when I notified staff they said they had it crossed off that it was replaced. They offered to try and moved me but it would’ve been to the side of the hotel with the large pile of garbage bags.

The beach is the saving grace for this property. It is beautiful. With that being said, everyone goes to this beach, which isn't very big. The hotel is extremely dated. Upkeep is not a priority. If you care just about the basics, then this place will do. Just be prepared to walk to the bar that closes at 9:00 to get your ice. Our room was cleaned once during a four night stay. The other positive is there is a bbq shack on the beach with really good food. So if you're in for a lackluster property with a gorgeous beach and an excellent smoked lunch, this place is for you.

Property is very dated pool has been closed for 5 years however beach is beautiful and location is perfect ferry to and from boardwalk always available and the convenience outweighs property conditions

Property and hotel room furniture was outdated and in need of serious renovations overhaul. One building looked run downed and abandoned. There was no hot water to take a shower, lukewarm mostly. The pool, ponds, and waterfalls were shut off, which was very unsightly from my balcony room. Staff did not clean out all the debris until the last day of my stay. However, the staff was friendly and very accommodating. The beach bar drinks were top tier and the beach restaurant food was so good. I love the fact that I could walk right out of my room and be on the beach. I even enjoyed watching the different exotic birds and iguanas. If you ask me if I am willing to stay again? The answer is yes. I just hope that my next visit The Hotel on the Cay wil have more of a modern look with a twist of what it was when it first opened its doors. The potential to bring it back to life is there. Its a true diamond in the ruff.

This property is old and dated but still an ok place to stay. Bring your own beach towel to save yourself some trouble. We had one between our family of four but we don't mind that kind of thing. We saw several folks totally unable to get beach towels because they were out. There are new owners so the property will be renovated in the future but a simple thing to do would be buy more towels...people staying at a hotel on the beach need one. Also no place to rinse the sand from your feet so you have to use the shower. I bet Housekeeping loves that. There was a spicket but not operational. The one thing that really rubbed me wrong is that you have to rent an umbrella for the beach if you want one. Chairs are free. Its just very cheap to make hotel guests rent an umbrella when there is so much to overlook it seems like they could just include it like literally every other beach hotel does. Seems weird but of all the issues that was the most distasteful.

We stayed for one night. The property was very sad, run down, minimally cared for. Empty dirty pools. Our room was pretty shabby, but had a bed, functioning shower, and a door that locked. Would definitely not stay there again. But i talked to another couple that thought it was OK for their needs, so i guess everyone is different. It must have been a beautiful place "back in the day" when it was maintained.

The air conditioning did not work for the first two nights. The first night the room was very hot. It is obvious that there is very little being done to properly maintain the property.

We have been going to St. Croix and Hotel on the Cay for years. The steady decline in the property is very sad. But the staff is WONDERFUL! From Kathy, the manager to Sarah and Joan- the housekeepers and Jose…they are warm and welcoming. Hopefully with the new buyer things will improve.

Loved the beach and that you have to take a boat to access the property. Very easy to locate and use. Runs regularly and very little wait time. Guests staying at the hotel can use the lounge chairs free of charge and can rent umbrellas or find a palm tree for shade. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Only problem was the sliding glass doors that are warped and nearly impossible to open but management says they’re in the process of replacing them. Pool is not open but who needs a pool when you’ve got a great beach with calm waters and very good snorkeling. Towels are included for guests. Room included a small kitchenette but all you need to have a quick breakfast or heat up leftovers. I’d definitely return!

It’s a little different to be on an island but a short boat ride across the harbor was worth the experience. The hotel is older and some upgrades and construction is happening but it was still very nice and relaxing.

Great space and a beautiful beach and delicious food from Rolling Smoke BBQ. Chef Daniel and Chef Maggie serve some of the best food. I’m an old head chef and it’s good! St. Croix is the beginnings of America where Columbus landed his second voyage and where Alexander Hamilton survived to stay our revolution and country. Where President Biden celebrates every New Years!🇺🇸

Enjoyed the island and beach. Always had a water view. Didn’t enjoy that the beach was all public, no area for guests of the hotel. The bar was busy and poor service from some of the bartenders (unprofessional) again no special service for guests of the hotel. I do wish it had more food options than just lunch. Inconvenient to always have to got to the mainland for breakfast and dinner. It would have been nice to stay more on the island. Overall I was disappointed for such a great piece of property.

Outdated but perfect place to sleep and keep your belongings. The bar has a super cool vibe and the people are nice. Swimming/beach area is one of the best on the north side of St. Croix.

What a shame to let such a great property go into such serious disrepair. The woman behind the desk when we arrived was incredibly rude when I asked if they had any advil as all the local shops were already closed when we arrived. She glanced in the first aide kit quickly and told me nope nothing. Only for my husband to attempt to go to town later and have the ferry driver inform him there was a first aide kit full of everything we would need and sent him back to the room with advil AND Tylenol. If you’re that lazy please just don’t bother showing up. The room made me feel dirty immediately with how rusty and dated everything was. I wanted to love it. The beach is its only saving grace. We don’t mind dated but it’s clear no one cares about this place at all
