I just got back from Carambola, and there was much anticipation about how it would be after reading many of the reviews. Let me start with the positives:
- The views were absolutely spectacular and very quiet, which was what my wife and I were looking for.
- the staff was friendly and helpful. I know many people said they were rude, but we didn't experience any worker there who was nothing more than accommodating.
- We stayed in room 25; it was clean, well-kept, and had hot showers all day and night. Some people said their showers were cold, but we didn't have that experience. We only stayed for three nights, so we never requested room service.
- on the way to the hotel, we asked the taxi to stop at a market, and we picked up alcohol, snacks, and other essentials, so we were happy doing our own thing for the most part.
- The food was your typical bar food, and the drinks/bar service was no wait every time I wanted a drink (which was rare since we had our stuff).
- The beach was quiet and clean, and the water was gorgeous. They did have limited umberalls, so we found shade under the palm trees and enjoyed every minute of relaxation on the beach.
- Our taxi drivers were excellent!
Again, this is what we wanted for our 10th anniversary: a secluded, peaceful, quiet, and beautiful beach atmosphere.
Now, if you are looking for something more, this place may not be for you. It is a far ride to town; there is not much to do, and it's not a typical resort. Hope this helps
